1 month in ........
« on: 19 October 2017, 16:11 »
So its been a whole month since i got my pal and shes great i love her, the few niggles i had are due to be dealt with on Nov 1st as taking her into VW Specialist Cars in Dunfermline to have the creak from the rear when reversing looked into im not a little concerned about something which may be nothing

Accelerating individual mode so engine set to 'normal'  why oh why does she struggle in 1st and 2nd ?? almost hesitant to actually push her ar*e up the slip road ? am i doing something wrong or is this just the GTD and how she plays if your not in sport ? someone did say that sport is good for 1-3rd but lags 4-6th and normal mode is slow for 1-3 but nippy in 4-6th is this correct is anyone else feeling this ? Smetimes feel like I m redlining when trying to overtake a lorry

I am currently running a full tank in 'normal' mode and then next full tank will be in SPORT BABY !!!!!!! trying to work out my fuel economy in comparison to the mini which incidentally went away with no issues according to the guy at BCA whether its 3 years old or 7 doesnt matter they look over the car in the same manner and charge accordingly ...........so much so that he missed the gouge out of the rear wheel and the ding on the bonnet from a stone chip

Hope you are all well and have survived storm Ophelia i wanted to bring the car inside away from the nasty branches and leaves but DH was having none of it

Difference between sport and normal is just a throttle pedal mapping... nothing else...

It is manual not DSG yeah?

The guy that told you about the difference between normal and sport and 123rd and 456th is bullsh!ting you.

The more troubles you say you have with the car the more I think you bought a pup.

The torque in a GTD would make it the opposite to the mini in that respect and would have absolutely no problem getting up even the steepest of hills.

Who told you this, was it someone in the place where you bought it?

No problems getting up hills i think im just nervous to floor it i dont think im explaining myself right 1st and 2nd are very short so when i pull away for example into traffic if i floor it she revs and im shifting in2 2nd very quick then in2 3rd as the first 2 gears are short thats what i mean does that make more sense ? It was on here i was told 123 and 456 it was about 1 and 2 being short in normal but longer in sport ?

The wife had a mini and i have had a gtd mk7 and now a mk7 gti, i think its the throttle response or lack of it, from memory the mini felt like a go kart and was very responsive but the gtd/gti does have a very relaxed  accelerator pedal which does not respond well to a light foot...check out pedal box...i think this may be your answer.

First and second are quite short, you really don't spend much time with them. From about 1500rpm it's strong right up just short of the red line, you don't need second for long, get into third quickly.  If in doubt, just follow the shift instructions on the display...

Not sure you're doing a great job of explaining it, maybe some punctuation might help!

Diesels like the Golf don't rev much so 1st and 2nd won't be very revvy. The Sport mode makes no difference to this as someone else already said.
