MK6 GTi Overboost

Hi all
Did the MK6 GTi come with overboost as standard?
Reason I ask is because the car just been in for service (got all timing chain and tensioner done too) and all come back well. However he has mentioned the clutch could be on way out as it's getting to end of biting point.
Now ever since we bought the car, we noticed if we plant it the car will give us what I say is overboost (revs higher (only few 100 rpm) then sort of all catches up with itself. However after telling me this I'm not sure if it's the clutch. After watching you tube videos and seeing my mates focus st slip it's nothing like that.
Any help appreciated

There is overboost.
The revs rising is a classic case of clutch slip

Cheers
The rev's build up but doesn't go sky high. If it was slipping would it not be shooting up to the redline?

Sorry, I need to correct my previous post. Bloody autocorrection, the mk6 GTi does NOT have overboost.
The revs could race to the redline but no necessarily, it would depend on amount of clutchslip i believe
