SoundillusioN's MK7 - More Pics - Interior
« on: 21 March 2013, 21:58 »
Finally got the Mazda's replacement this week.

MK7 Golf 2.0 TDI 150 SE DSG

Main Features besides the obvious stuff you get with most cars now (many of which I had to read up on to see if they're any good or even what some of them even did!):

Colour is Limestone Grey Metallic (less fuss to clean over black!!!!)
16" wheels (proabably good for me to down size, I go through tyres quite quick!)
ADC (Automatic Distance Control) including Front Assist, radar sensor controlled distance monitoring system.
Adaptive Cruise Control, works from 0-99-0 mph with DSG box
Electronic Handbrake with Auto Hold (so technically never even need to touch it)
HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist) Car can control the brakes at any speed for use with ADC
City emergency and Automatic Post-Collision Braking System
EDL (Electronic Differential Lock)
Speed Sensitive Steering with weight adjustment
Driver Alert System (apparently monitors your driving and tells you when you're too tired to drive)
Start/stop function
Tyre pressure monitoring system
Automatic coming/leaving home lighting
Battery regeneration (recuperation - energy recovery during braking)
Eco HMI - choice of three settings, Sport, Eco and Normal
Media System - 5.8" Colour touch screen with proximity sensors.  DAB, CD, SD card reader, AUX in and bluetooth.
Daytime running lights
Auto Lights
Auto Wipers
Auto Dimming Mirror

I can wack some more up at request.....

Kind of bored of looking at it already..... BUT, and it's a big but.  I am amazed with everything else.  Being inside it is just simply perfect and even now I just want to get back in it and give it a spank.

Engine sounds like a grunty petrol from the cabin and outside it's pretty damn quiet.  The ADC and ACC works soooo much better than expected with the DSG box.  Did a 350 mile round trip yesterday and barely had to touch a pedal!

Feels like a much bigger car inside, drives however you want it to, economically, almost automatically, sporty, quietly.  Love the driving modes which allows you to adjust steering weight.  Everybody I have taken out for a spin in it so far has been very impressed with it.

For what it is, this thing shifts.. would write more but I think I'm going to have to pop to a shop now that's nowhere near my house to pick up something I don't need.

Yep, great work miles muncher, especially in cr@p traffic. It can still be fun though, stick it in manual, grab the paddles and find something twisty.

With regards as to what it will be like in 10 years time, I don't give a feck because this will be gone in no more than 4.

Renault however are apparently suffrering with auto hold handbrake failures after 3 years.  £600 fix to the expense of the customer!  Not surprised.

Hmmmm, have been hearing the same from friends now too regarding the handbrake.. It's seems that it's one of things that's not going to last as long as a traditional...  I wonder what the life expectancy is of my gearbox/clutches.....

MK7 section requested more pics of interior in daylight, so here are some more.
