painting engine

hey all my vr is hanging up in the garage I am painting the whole thing white with bits and pieces red
what is the best stuff to use to clean the engine before i paint it just to get all the dirt and grease off

I know they is degreasers out there but what do you guys recommend

I fund gunk works really well but it stinks for a few days after!

how is it used do you just apply it to the engine then jet it off?

You can just brush it on mate and work it in with a bruch then rinse it off! You can use a jet if you are careful (cover electrics, alternator etc) or just hose it down as the gunk will loosen it up nicely! There are threads all about this if you do a search! Go into better detail too!
