here ya go, i can look for other engine codes if you want, this is straight from vw so should be accurate
valve timing at 1mm valve lift

engine code                           ADY          AGG             2E

Inlet opens after TDC               3               1               3
inlet closes after BDC              44              37              44
exhaust opens before BDC       37               41             37
exhaust closes before TDC       -                5                -
exhaust closes after TDC         4                -                4

how do you turn that information into cam duration then?? i thought those figures with primarily to do with cam overlap issues and firing sequence i suppose...
Mk3 Golf Gti:Full Milltek system and Decat,K&N filter,mk2 Cam,-1.5 degree camber shims, borbet a's, toyo proxies, hot tuning coils, brembo vented discs, greenstuff pads...Soon to have Eaton Power

mk3 16v 5dr Gti,mintex extreme pads,drilled/grooved discs, lowered, cat back powerflow system, omp panel filter with modified airbox, debadged grill, started prep for spraying, lots to come :D

Bumper Vents :D

lol thought you knew!
for ady+2e, inlet duration = 3+44+180= 227  exhaust=37+4+180= 221
agg inlet=1+37+180=228  exhaust =41+180-5=216
i think thats how it works, havent really read ure post properly though
can get other engine code spec if wanted

just trying to find out the standard camshaft duration on an 8v because i dont think its anywhere near 270 and stumbled across this lot...

Did you find any more information on camshafts? I am thinking of identification marks.
I am trying to identify a G60 camshaft. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4572272
I will try to mount it into a head without valves and try to measure lift and duration. Not sure of what kind of accuracy I get, but I will try.

I found info about the ID marks on the G60 cam. Just have a look at the thread at VWvortex.
If you have ID-marks for other camshaft, it would be great. I am trying to build a information table where you can find data on as many camshafts as possible.

I have collected some info about camshaft.
Some comes from this thread, and the rest I have dug up for camshaft catalogs.
Information about powerband, HP increase and identity markings would be great.
