Yellowstuff pads?
« on: 02 July 2016, 22:09 »
What do you think of yellowstuff breaks? I've just got some front pads and will be getting rear soon, too. They seem good, but find the colour funny  Not that you can see them under the calipers. Are they popular? Did I pick a good one?

Ive ran red stuff. Loved them, when they were warm. And greens on the back.

A combination I choose normally. Never had yellows as there ratted for above my sort of bhp.
Mates have ran them on 200sx's and stuff and praise them.though

Rate these, good from cold, work well when I've done track days, quite a harsh compound so can wear disc out quicker than usual.

Ive not tried the yellow compound but having used green on my old mk2 and my current Seat Leon came with reds I'm adamant I'll never be purchasing EBC replacement pads, they're absolutely dire.

On my clio 197 I fitted ferodo ds2500 they were the best pads I have ever fitted, my golf will get them too. My dad tried ebc pads on his first kit car and they were in the bin after their first summer with most of their life left, he doesn't rate ebc.

If i'm not mistaken, they are rated -
Green - medium road
Yellow - fast road / light track
Red - race

I've only ever used red and they were good when you were braking lots, I've read some bad stuff about them online recently so I stick to another race compound now as I have grooved and dimpled front disks
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

As above, fitted and then removed yellow stuff after one spirited drive!

Had green stuff pads on found them to be a good all rounder and did what it said on the tin dramatically reduced brake dust which was a pain and tbh once my gti needs pads I will be replacing with green stuff

Green pads are good for daily driving needs. They bite well and provide reliable stopping performance.
