Turbo recall?

There's talk on that other more international Golf forum that the GTI is about to get a recall on it's turbo unit.  Everyone posting from the UK that has asked their dealer has reported the dealers know nothing about it.  Anyone in the know?

Turbo units affected;

06K 145 702 K - Revision 1
06K 145 702 Q - Revision 2
06K 145 702 R - Revision 3

All to be replace by this model or newer;

06K 145 702 T - Revision 4

If anyone has any info on this please share before I start bothering my dealer  :smiley:

No idea but pretty concerning. I'll be checking my model number in the morning. If the dealers know nothing about it then it'll be difficult to get a swap I guess. Definitely needs doing before any remap's and possible headaches.

This really does throw a curve ball if it's true, I was looking at getting the car revo tomorrow, but will have to put on hold if the turbo needs to be swapped out.

Hope not - I saw this on another forum and I do have one of the affected turbos.

My only issue is that whilst the warranty is EU wide, VW Cyprus don't officially import the GTI so I am unsure of where I stand with recalls etc.

Just been down to Lancaster vw, I spoke to them about possible recall, they have not heard anything, & nothing on the system.

Called VW customer service as I have a Turbo that ends with a Q. They have no recalls for the GTI. Advises to wait and see if you get a letter. I think alot of us will be effected by this if they issue a recall.

I really wouldn't worry about it until it happens... if it does...

Seen rumours like this before... most turn out to be bs...

I heard it was just the bigger IHI's on the R etc, not GTI. The S3 is supposed to be getting a revised turbo because of this in 2015.

All the part numbers for faulty turbos i have seen are for the Gti's
