I wasn't that keen on the spider design of the uni brace. So I've covered it in black acoustic cloth. It's only roughly trimmed I'll finish it of when it's fitted.
This is the boot side.

This is the side against the rear seats.

God knows why they chose that design!

Here's some shots of it fitted.

It's a shame that with the weather as it is I won't be able to tell if it's made any difference or not.

Also fitted the TT strut brace but photo bucket won't let me up load!!!

I've managed to up load some photos at last!
Since Christmas I've been re doing my boost gauge holder. I wanted to make it look a little neater.
So first I trimmed it down.

Then glued it into position.
Smoothed it down.

Filled it.

Sanded it down

Primer

Not once but twice the primer reacted and melted the top layer of plastic.

Then more smoothing

Then more sanding...

It's not as good as Graham's but here's my spray booth lol

Then finished!

When fitting my strut brace I did it different to many. I did want to cut the strut brace so the bracket that holds the gas strut was removed by drilling out the spot welds

Bracket removed.

Hole drilled into the strut brace and a new ball joint used.

I need to sort out the are where the bracket was fixed and tidy it all up.

Between fitting this and the uni brace I've noticed a difference in handling when giving it some. Next up front ARB.

My car's going in to LSVR tomorrow for a service and to fit these bits. Also the TCS light keeps coming on and staying on so they are going to look at that. Hopefully with the lambda sensor being fitted I'll get that 5 mpg back again! I'm looking forward to seeing what the front ARB is like but a little apprehensive. As I like the balance of the car at the moment.

Another piece of the engine bay jigsaw arrived today.

Well I've picked my car up after the service inc lambda sensor and spark plugs fitted (£25!!!! I'll be fitting them my self in the future!!!!). This is the advice.
1. N/S/F indicator bulb needs replacing.
2. Steering wheel angle sensor faulty. Hench the TCS light and started after I fitted the 225 wheel at the weekend....
3. Rear disks and pads are shagged. Which is/was next on my to do list.
4. The rear bush in the wishbones are f@@ked.

I've been told by LVS that the captive nut that attaches the wishbone to the sub frame and be so rusted on that the subframe needs replacing. Also that as the wishbones have been banging around. They may also be damaged and need replacing. So the quote for worst case scenario is £1224.40 for parts a labour. <!-- s:whistle: --><!-- s:whistle: -->
Best case scenario for polly bushing the wishbones fitting the front ARB and tracking is £423.17.
Awsome charge £360 for polly bushing the wishbones.
AMD charge £499 to polly bush the whole car!!!

So I'm on the look out for second hand wishbones ideally polly bushed ones.

On a plus side in the short journey home the mpg has gone through the roof! The car also feels much nicer to drive with the DV sounding a lot louder. Tomorrow I'm hoping to fit the boost gauge.

Edit: With in two hours of putting an SOS out on the forums and FB. I managed to track down a pair of wishbones that have already been poly bushed and a sub frame both for £140. Plus two offers of help to fit them. You've got to love the VAG brotherhood.

I've ordered a superpro steering rack polly bush from Awsome. So the front end will be fully poly bushed I'll buy the rear axel bushes after next pay day. I can't wait to feel the difference as I've been disappointed in the sloppy handling. Every cloud has a silver lining!
I had a nightmare this morning as my new Stack gauge does not fit in the steering wheel pod!!!
It's to deep.

So I refitted my old boost gauge.

It looks ok.

The latest bits of the great engine bay tidy up have arrived.
INA coil pack cover I bought from Tim.

All sprayed up and ready to go.

Another piece of over priced forge hosing

Plus another!

New rear discs from Godspeed. I'm going to be using standard pads with them.

Well I've came up with the crackpot idea of fitting a bit of aero to my car. I'd been looking at some of the splitters the SCN boys have been making for there cars and fancied having a go my self. I'd also read that Nick (Prawn) from ASN had been think of adding some aero and that got me thinking.
Looking under the car a flat floor seems relatively easy as its all a uniform level. The front of the car is pretty good any way it just needs a splitter extending to the under tray (which has NACA ducts for gearbox cooling so will have to stay) and the redundant fog lamp grills sealing up.
thats not my car unfortunately!

Oh and this arrived today.

It's a RT Motorsport diffuser. I was planning on making my own but as I keep finding out late night drinking and eBay don't mix! DON'T DO IT KIDS!!! I bough it from a chap who'd had it sat in his shed and not fitted it to his car. I've contacted RT and they say its a copy from a Celicia GT4 time attack car. When I can get my car up on a ramp I'll decide then if it's worth using, modifying or re selling.
My car is just for road use at the present time. I love the idea of tracking it I just need to grow a pair and get on with it! I also plan on keeping the car long term so whether it'll stay my daily or become a dedicated track car is undecided. As you can probably tell I'm not that decicive!
Thanks for looking, Paul.
