Meditation - Anyone involved?
« on: 28 May 2014, 18:32 »
Been meaning to get into this for a while but only started making moves today. Posted on my Facey to find there are lots of classes and things in my local area which I'm guna try out but just wondered if any of you guys had any tips or tricks to help me along the way?

I really am completely clueless to this so any info is great :)

Thanks!

Meditation class?  What..£15 a hour to sit in silence with a group of other mugs.

Do it in the house mate. 7 Steps to happiness.

1. Sit down
2. Shut up
3. Clear you mind
4. Think of Boobies.
5. Realise it's not doing anything a sit down and a cup of tea doesn't do better.
6. Spend the £15 you saved on a few pints and a pizza.
7. There, don't you feel better.

My gf is really into her yoga and meditation - it does wonders for her bipolar.

No tips other than keep at it. You are ready to do it as all you need is to be open to the idea in the first place. It will work wonders for you. Go to classes until you are confident enough to go through sequences or steps on your own.

The modern interpretation and use of mindfulness is a good basis for meditation. If you're looking for meditation from a more western perspective.

If you're after a more eastern style of meditation, Buddhism and Buddhist meditation are a good place to start.

Though the practices are fundamentally very similar.

You don't really need classes though. There are some great resources online. :)

Cool thanks guys, the class is only £3 for the first then £5 after, the Buddhist Centre here does a class for free so guna check that out too.

Been advised to get a singing bowl for when at home too. Luckily got a heft gift card for Amazon from work so it's free too :)
