Mk4 Gt TDI PD150 03 plate, 130k miles
Major issues over the past month but I'm getting there slowly fixing each issue
From a cold start driving off, I change to 2nd gear and with full open throttle the revs creep up to where the turbo should kick in but then something starves her of performance and I enter limp mode. If I turn her off, then on all appears ok. However even then the turbo when it does kick in feels a little strange. Strange in the fact that I can only describe as like driving a bumber car at a fairground. It could be in my head but occasionally it feels like when I release the peddle the car slows somewhat. The breaks are fine by the way. Before you read the below I need to explain that my turbo really does kick in well when the engine is warm and the performance I am achieving is tremendous (chipped to 198bhp)
To note, the car has no EGR valve as a previous owner removed it. Its now a straight pipe into the intercooler.

Now I know that a week ago the car had trouble starting in the mornings. I located a clip that a local stealers had left on the fuel line in the wrong position. Ever since I moved it the car has got better at starting and starts first time now. I have no warning lights appear anywhere and never have.
Having looked at Cylinder 2 misfire online most people suggest a wiring loom in the rocker cover but I had this replaced about 6 months ago so that can be ruled out.
The only thing I can think of now is either Sticky VNT veins or a stuck actuator. Does anyone else agree on this. I intend to empty an entire can of WD40 on it tomorrow and exercise the rod (just need to find it) I would like to think its just the actuator as like above when the car does pull she really does go !!
As for the air flow flap, I don't appear to have any issues when asking for heat etc so I'm not fussed about that.
Before I cleared existing faults one fault was displaying as Charge Pressure Control - Negative Deviation. But this has not come back since clearing so I guess its an old fault.
Any recommendations please. Limp mode only occurs from first start.
one quote to rebuild turbo at £500 without any further issues
waiting for another quote tomorrow but would rather attempt things before I splash the cash (again)
