Rns510 and mic but no Bluetooth?
« on: 19 July 2019, 10:34 »
Hi all,
New member here.
If my 2011 gti has rns510*, heated seats, microphone, mfsw.... Would it also have Bluetooth as standard?

There's no styrofoam under the front seats, and my phone cannot find a Bluetooth source....

I guess it lacks the bluetooth box under the seat, there are kits on ebay with the mic into the upper central console.
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black

Using the <> buttons on the steering wheel will show up the phone menu if it is installed.

Retro fitting is easy with one of the many retro fits with a piggyback wiring harness. You'll need VCDS or similar to tell the car its fitted.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

You will need a VW Bluetooth module, microphone kit that sits in the cabin overhead light and connects to the radio and a wiring harness that connects the Bluetooth module to the radio. As said above, all available on ebay. Need to code the module using VCDS. Getting the wiring harness in place can be a bit of a pain as lots of plastic trim to move. Took me half a day to get the wiring in place and the sort out the correct coding which varies with module and radio. Plenty of videos on the net for fitting the cabling.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.
