Title: Key fob programming
Post by: indigoblue on 26 April 2018, 06:51
Hi guys, my CCM has packed up I think because my remote fobs have stopped working also the interior lights don't work and electric windows don't work, I know the fobs need re-programming but if I change the CCM will everything work straight away except the remotes, don't want to take CCM of and find the immobiliser is on, just need things working while I find someone to do re-programming.

What year is your Golf or which part number is the CCM?
The earlier ones often suffered cold solder spots and you can fix them by just resoldering all the large joints. Also have you checked all fuses for voltage supply to CCM?

The one thing you will need to watch out for is the colour code of the CCM (nothing to do with paint on the car but the software configuration in the CCM). If you get the wrong one it will not work correctly.

Golf is a 2002 1.8t GTi, have got a replacement CCM with same number also I have checked the fuses and all seems ok with them. Thanks for the reply.

Part number is 1co 959 799 b not sure what you mean by colour code but the box is black with white printing on it.

1c0959799b is the part number for hardware only.
You should get a matching colour code (three characters) as this will contain the correct software, you will need to read this with diagnostics as it’s not printed on the box (unless ordered for a specific car as a spare from VW).

There are over 100 colour codes for Golf hatch, estate, Bora, Octavia (both sedan and estate), Passat, etc as well as options fitted on car (horn or battery backed up horn, number of doors, etc).

Whereabouts are you?
I can reprogram CCMs to match the car.

Any idea what car it came out of?

Not ever that far north anymore!
If you send me both CCMs by mail I can reprogram so the replacement will work on your car.

You can remove the ccm, locking will still work, but not central locking.
