You shouldn't have any issues putting winter tyres on of they are the correct official VW size and spec. I'm sure someone posted a document with what insurance companies were ok with winter tyres.

Thanks, might have a look on their website too. Never had winters before so I've also yet to convince my pocket of the value. It just doesn't get that cold that often down here let alone snow.

Edit: just called DL and they would change the policy as it would be a modification but there would be no charge.

It's the cold temperatures I'm more bothered about than the snow really.

Doh! I thought these were winter tyres when they are actually all season so not what I was thinking of. The Pirelli website was pretty poor too, I hate BS and I can't think of a better descriptive for "designed for drivers living in urban areas searching for an innovative and alternative mobility solution". Tw@ts. They are tyres, not jet packs or similar

I ran CrossClimates in winter on my M135i for many years, they handle cold and wet infinitely better than summer tyres and will drag you out of snow, perhaps not as fast as proper winters, but they'll do it.

For the other 95% of the season where it's just plain old horrible and cold, they're far superior to their wobbly winter cousins.

I’ve just changed onto crossclimates and 18inch wheels for the winter from 19 inch Santiagos and continental summer tyres as the contis struggled at times last winter, so far so good tho they definitely are not as good as the continentals in the dry when pushed hard thru the corners, but to be fair I wouldn’t expect them to match the continentals, I’m looking forward to see how they cope thru the winter, we don’t tend to get lots of snow locally so hopefully they will manage well enough
However the car is so much more comfortable and quieter on the 18 inch wheels I might not put the 19s back on.

This is a new all season tyre Matt and by all accounts it's very very good.
