Can anyone diagnose my problem?
« on: 02 August 2016, 15:18 »
*Please note, I am a newbie when it comes to cars*

Hi,

I recently had the clutch changed in my MKIV Golf and ever since this new clutch has been installed, the 2nd gear at around 20 - 30mph has been making a loud whirring sound when accelerating and decelerating. However, if you put your foot down on the clutch, the sound is not present. The sound appears to be coming from the front wheels.

Please let me know if anyone has an idea of what this could be.

Thanks,
George.

Firstly id assume release bearing. But being aa new clutch  shouldnt be.

Secondly id have the front bearing checked for play. Without hearing the whiring its hard to say what it is

Was only the clutch (friction and pressure plate) replaced?

When reading first thought that shot in my head was release bearing too....

I'd give it a few days and see if it sorts itself, mine has done this once and then sorted itself out
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)
