Post by: PROTOTYPE on 17 March 2011, 07:48

I have never seen one before, and the guy at the garage said i would struggle to find another!

Do you really want a 2.0 is the bigger question.

Not the greatest choice.

+1 would rather push a 1.8t than drive a 2.0. would probably be quicker

Candy white in a mk4 is rare. Im one of the lucky owners. Did see another 3 door gti on the motorway the other day aswell, not sure if it was a 1.8T though.

Have been thinking about contacting VW to find out how many mk4 candy white 1.8T's were produced.

Still a poor choice, not really a GTI and was only badged GTI for the uk, 1.8 n/a 20v is the better choice all round.

aww man.I really feel sorry for the 2.0GTI owners on here..they've all literally read this read and not even entered into the conversation :P

The "mk4" section of the forums  should be changed to the "1.8T section

it didnt come out the factory that colour. mk4 golfs came out the factory in Candy White. VW didnt do them in another shade of white.

i had a 2.0 for over a year and it was great never had a problem with it. Ill admit it wasnt the quickest but still had some go, i mean there are other cars i would want less, say the 1.4 or 1.6?
Now ive upgraded to the 1.8T i can see why people would slate the 2.0 but on the other hand as ive had one and never had a problem with it i wouldnt slate it

edit: wow didnt realise the last time someone had posted lol

Having used to own a MK4 2.0 before the MK5 I can confirm they are DOG SLOW, jnufcuk how you can say "wasnt the quickest but still had some go" I don't quite get, it was terrible in terms of performance.

It was badged up as a highline model in Europe as that's exactly what it is. You get all the spec and looks of a GTI, just without the power. It was badged as a GTI in the UK so mugs like me would buy it. It was however a lovely car and I cant moan about it, just don't fool yourself into thinking its anything other than slow and thirsty.

I suppose I should of explained that it was my 1st car at 20 and before I was using my mums 1.4 Clio sport lol so compared to that it was quick compare it to the 1.8t well there isn't a comparison lol. What I meant by some 'go' was that at certain times I felt it was quite quick sometime in 2nd and 3rd gear and certain revs
I personay felt quite lucky to have a mk4 2.0gti at the age of 20 as not many 20year olds have a nice car but now I'm 21 I have an even nicer car

 ye as i cannot afford to run 2 cars so need the money to help go towards the 1.8T. My mum and dad would of had it as its a bigger car for the new born in the family however as it was only a 3 door they decided against it but they are now reconsidering.
