Classic insurance for a Mk3 16v??
« on: 09 January 2013, 01:22 »
Anyone looked into it?

I know its a long shot but I looked into classic insurance when I lost my NCB after an accident a while ago, and a mk2 non-GTI qualified for classic car insurance so why not a mk3 16v

The age criteria is the car has to be at least 15 yrs old so '97 & earlier mk3's would qualify

It would be a second car for me so limited milage wouldn't be a problem.

Just a thought - would've thought someone must have checked this out?

I Just insured my VR6 with classic car insurance with Lancaster, although the car is 20 year old. Cut the cost in half. Only downside is im not covered to drive any other cars on it.

We should be able to quote a mk3 Golf on certain classic polices, if like you say its a 2nd car doing 7500 miles per year or less.

Send us your number if you would like us to call you for a quote.

Cheers

We also offer some heavily discounted classic type policies for reduced mileage cover.. Depending on how many miles a year you cover the prices can come out VERY competitive.

We could also take into account any modififcations you would like to add as well.

If you wanted to drop me a PM with your contact number or call me directly at the office id be happy to help with a price. I think you will be pleasently suprised especially if you cover less than 5k per year!

Best Regards

Great cheers - I've decided to go for a VR instead, as a fun toy for a year or 2 then when I upgrade my E36 to an 328i/M3/Alpina  I'll change the VR for a good 16v as a daily

I'll get in touch re insurance on the VR.

Does a Mk3 have to be over 15 yrs old to qualify or will any VR/16v GTI qualify?

Cheers

'95 plate I'm pretty sure you should be sound mate, see replies from 2 isuurers above

They say Mk3 VR's & 16v's are eligable so '97 plate & older will defo qualify, I'm wondering about later later Mk3's.

VR6 wont be a problem either. Its more about the amount of miles you cover and if you have access to any other vehicles that helps on our policies

The age being 1995/6 will definately help as well. Drop me a PM when you are ready for a quote or call me at the office I think you will be very please with the quotes  :nerd:
