I'm finding my fuel consumption has improved quite a bit since swapping my horrible Potenza tyres for some nice new F1 Eagle 2 Asymmetrics.  Previously, the computer would read somewhere in the low 50s for my 20 mile trip to work (mixture of "A" roads and motorway, with some stop/start).  Now, I can get high-50s or low 60s with no trouble at all (tonight I got just over 62).

If memory serves, the most I've ever got out of a tank is about 560 miles, and that's running to almost empty.  Looks like I'll beat that this time.

That does help, but it's never been as good as it is now.  The EU rolling resistance figures are noticeably better if you compare the Potenzas to the Goodyears.

I managed to get 65mpg average a couple of days ago, and I couldn't (and never) have done that with the Potenzas, even if/when it was 30 degrees outside.  The on-board computer read over 700 miles for a while as well - not seen that before.

Warm weather makes it worse as the air is less dense and you get less bang per litre of air.

Tail wind?

But warm weather does help the engine heat up faster to a more efficient state.

From today, a 20 mile journey - a mixture of some stop-start, motorway (50 and 60mph) and "A" roads (50mph, stuck behind a lorry):

It peaked at 75mpg about two minutes before the photo was taken, but then I went up two hills before pulling into my driveway.

I find that warm weather does help as well.

What are the 3 seat symbols for where the trip mileage should be?
2010 Golf GTD (170) CBBB, 5 Door, Shadow Blue (P6/D5Q), Flat Tyre Indicator, Basic Protection Pack + VCDS.

I was thinking that too.
