removing a manual mk 1 cabriolet roof

hi there does anybody know how to remove a mark one cabriolet roof and what tools i need? all the help needed thanks in advanced!

thge release hooks are in the boot at the top of the bootlid and u need to release the tensioners that are attached to the frame.  ive never done it but and thats as much as i know im afraid.  :)

try pm'ing danhock he recently replaced his hood before selling his cab  :-\

You need to take out the back seats, rear cards and as vixteris said slacken off the wire that holds the hood down to the lip on the body. then you need to undo the three (i think there are 3) nuts which hold down the frame to the body. It really isn't a hard job, just time consuming. you wont need any special tools either, just a good socket set.

Yep... Its easy enough..

Not sure about removing the rear seats?? I didnt.

Its mainly a case of removing of the bits attached to the hood, the windows seals etc...

The rear tensioner cable is attached just behind the rear seats either side.. You'll need to hold the cable with pliers then undo the nut or it'll just spin.

p.s. take the rear window out first!!

guys i think you have misunderstood me i mean taking the complet hood of frame windows at once its coming of another car any help will be needed!

You're still going to have to remove the rear tension cable first as the is attached to the car.....

I think this may actually be harder than fitting just a hood to an old Frame!!

the window frame is also attached to the body but this is only a couple of bolts to remove...

Then its a case of removing the hinge behind the rear seats..
