First oil change

Hi all, I am new to the forum and have my first gti. Just preparing for an interim oil change on my Mk 8 GTI auto in Silver, and have researched handbook, internet, nothing under the bonnet and spoken with two vw dealers. Handbook indicates at 508.00 which is 0w20 and top up with 508 or 504 spec oil. Both dealers have said to use 504.00 5w30. Without fear of creating an oil debate can anyone confirm the oil spec for the 2020 ea888 engine fitted in the mk8 gti.

I would go with the 5w-30.  0w-20 is really thin and more suited to better fuel economy - unless that’s what you want.  My choice would be the long life stuff in the photo.  My last oil change was the bulk oil used by the dealer and the make/type didn’t even appear on the invoice.  Turned out to be Shell Helix ultra 0w-30 after I queried.

What top up oil are you all using I have some castrol
 5w-30 as (as above pic) left as a top up from my 7.5gti performance.
Would it be ok to use if i ever need to  in Mk8 Gti or should I use
0w-20?

Hello Ch1P.
My GTI is coming up to 3 years old now with 22000 on the clock. Being sad, this year I had the oil/filter changed 6 months after its last service in Oct 22. I know, no comments needed.
The Independent I use {GT101 in Essex; highly recommended} used VW Quantum 5W30 oil.
I also had the Racing Line Magnetic sump plug fitted at the same time.

Have used Shell in my previous vehicles with no issues but to be sure, I have bought the correct one myself and supplied it at point of service in the past.
