Just watched this and he doesn’t seem impressed at all. He makes a good point about waiting for the hotter ID cars.

Depends what you want I suppose. The base ID3 starts at £30k after the grant and is about 40ps down on the GTE and GTi. The current range topping ID3 is already well over £40k.

I don't think his comment about the 'extra drive train  for £1k' tells the full story either. Yes you get an extra drive train, but that petrol drive train is 100ps down, there's no diff and you get little casters that don't fill the arches.  :undecided:

In short, if you want a car that's like a GTi, but economy is more important than outright performance, then take a look at the GTD. Over £3k less than a GTE, which pays for an awful lot of fuel. You also get proper suspension and much better looking wheels.

And no option for a spacesaver.

Does anyone actually choose to have one these days? Most cars don't come with them now and many more don't even have the space if you wanted to buy one.

I guess its all about weight reduction (co2).

Regarding the GTE, I can't recall a review of a car for some time, where my expectations were so far from reality... not for me, thanks!

Ref the id3 and price, they seem a bit of a deal at the moment?   A neighbour has picked up a "first" edition, dealers were offering delivery miles cars for £30k for a while, probably still there with a gentle haggle?

Whether it is mk8 or id3, I will wait until we are well into the production run to assure any teething issues are resolved?

I probably do around 16k miles a year in 3 different cars.
I think the last time I changed a tyre by the roadside was around 15 years ago.

I do - I wouldn't buy a car without one.

I can understand them not coming as standard (C02 and all that) but there should be a space to secure one if you want to add.
