Title: 1st September Arrival(s)......
Post by: Mr_F on 23 August 2011, 14:51
Yesterday I heard the new wheels is sitting in the dealers compound.  Which is odd because about 4 hours prior I spotted a Trailer full of VW's heading south on the motorway toward the dealer, the passing speed was quite quick but for some reason I was drawn too it.  I'll be practicing my Jedi Mind tricks on you all later! now pay attention!

Have now chosen my number plate too, out of a very boring selection.  I looked into purchasing VW61 GTD but at just over £1k I think its a tad much.

Now all I need to do is choose a name, Blue Juice or Blue thunder are my fave's so far suggestion's welcome, the car looks exactly the same as the one on the shadow blue thread...

Mine was 10am pickup.

Just driven into the office and given the boys a bit of a run.  out of those 40 miles done this morning it's very VERY hard to not floor it and follow the breaking in credentials....its going to be a painful 1st few thousand miles...

GRINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Lee , it would appear as though you gave it the kiss of death.

1 x VERY red oil pressure light is flashing, Roadside assist on the second day of ownership...sure it will just be software

Oil level is on the max for the dipstick (Owners manual says check when at operating temperature...I find that odd in itself)
and the temperature was at 90 degrees  (normal)

Bet its a bit of software or a loose cable.

Very nice mate, nice wheel/colour combo! The oil light could be on because it's on max on the dipstick? ie overfilled.

Excuse my gf and the technician, they seem to be playing a weird drinking game of some kind.  Hire car on the way.

Top man Mr_F..... at least your seeing the funny side of it.

This experience after only 1 days ownership is not the best advert in the world for VW

1st of the 61 reg's picked up yesterday, driving home from the dealer on comes the red oil lamp, got home, looked it up, Holy Moly, should have stopped still on first instance.  Technician says I would have obliterated the engine by now if it was genuine low pressure, but didn't want to say too much.  From being VERY concerned over night I managed a good spot of internet reading, current options are

1) Software....the light wasn't on for my test drive before I signed it off, but was on after they looked at a flat tyre indicator fault.
2) lead not seated or bad connections
3) Over Full on oil

As I say it drove fine, engine temp was normal, dip stick says theirs plenty of oil.

The road side assist guy beamed my engine logs off to Wolfsburg, very nice chap.

Will wait to see what the combination of the dealer and Wolfy come back with.

410 miles on the clock so far, no further red lights, thoroughly enjoying blasting past farm machinery and 40's cruisers on the country roads into work. Bring on full throttle after 1k miles.

Best feature to date: Xenons.  Had three near collisions all when driving better than safe  (had less without DRL's) and only one bout of the alarm going off....a Moth!
