HOW TO - Rear Washer Conversion
« on: 26 March 2006, 17:24 »
1.   Remove the trim panel on the inside of the boot
2.   Locate the washer, follow the pipe if necessary. It will be behind the lock mechanism
3.   Remove the washer. This is done by squeezing in the clips, and pushing out. Or just lever it from outside, might be a bit tight, but it can be done
4.   There will be a cross shaped hole. File the inside of the cross, to make it square, as such:

5.   You should note that the jet fits in ok at the top, if not, file a little bit at a time. You may need to file the bottom a little bit too, to make the hole more rectangular.
6.   The last bit is the clip that would normally hold the jet into the bonnet. This will need to be trimmed, a little bit, so it sits on the outside of the boot. This is why the hole shouldnÂ’t be filed down too far. The clip needs to sit outside the hole to lift it up a little bit. You should see that if the jet sits more on the boot, the jets wonÂ’t actually hit the screen! So, if the clip remains, the jet will point more at the screen, and give more room for adjustment. This is a good place to test the jet; youÂ’ll need to get someone to squirt while you hold it.
7.   When the jet is all lined up, unplug the pipe (this tends to pull the jet at a funny angle) and silicone it in place, making a smooth bead around the bits you see.

8.   Now, plug it all in, and test. Adjusting the jets is the hardest part! They have to go a lot lower than they do on the front, so it can take a while to get it just right!

9.   As you will note, the jet is a lot lower, so the spray will now miss the wiper arm when itÂ’s in the lower position, so it will spray the screen much better!

A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it.
