Ok.....I have finally just got insured on my golf gti...I have over the last few months, rung "every single" insurance company i could find...

Im 21 but this is my first insurance(was on company before) on my standard '87 8 valve tpft is ?940

Still ridiculous I know but thats the cheapest I could find!!...BRENTACRE INSURANCE in swansea (do a "google" search for their number...the nice thing is any mods, alloys etc are included at no extra cost.My covernote arrived the following morning.

depending on your age it may be worth calling HIC...

Tesco quoted me ?1800 third party...(I take it your not 21 a9wyn ;)

So there you have it...I think i've saved you some time...give "kerry" a call at Brentacre and I'd be surprised if you can find a cheaper quote.

sorry '87 project didn't realise your only 21 i'm quite a bit older than that (well over double phsyically but 21 mentally) a mate of mine went with BRENTACRE with a 16v gti and was very pleased with his quote but he is the same age as me, unfortunately insurance for younger drivers is very expensive

Barry Grainger brokers is worth a call. Just insured my Mk3 GTI 8v for ?410 fully comp, with 4 yrs NCB and one non fault claim. Also tried HIC but slightly cheaper and more xs, but still far better than quotes from Tesco etc. I found a lot of companes want proof of fitting for alarm/immobiliser but because the car already had it when I bought it the paperwork is long gone.
