Update time!

i started the engine conversion yesterday, but made no progress because it took me the whole day to get my head round the wiring loom  big thanks to rubjonny for some advice. by the way anyone attempting this conversion it is NOT a plug and play swap  like most forums say it is

anyway today

be gone sh!tty 8v

that hole looks 16v shaped

its replacement

i also removed the wishbones, brakes, driveshafts, rack, old loom, full exhaust and fitted the passat wishbones and g60 brakes

more to come tomorrow

16v loom is in, as is pas rack and 16v exhaust and i also sorted out some surface rust in the engine bay. hammerite was applied liberally with a big brush ready for the show season

i got the 16v in place today with gearbox and changed a load of seals that i forgot about! i didnt get as much work done as id liked because the bolts i had for the flywheel went missing so had to go to 2 branches of vw to get them.

tomorrow i have the driveshafts to bolt up then its a case of plugging in all wires and vacuum stuff and ecu then i have to work out why it wont start

Loving the retro small bumpers 16v. Should be a bit of a street sleeper when finished

yeah its an extra 32mm at the front and 20mm at the back, i had the same setup on an old golf and its a nice improvement, the car feels a lot more stable on quicker corners.

well today i got most of it finished but have had to stop as its just started hailing really hard! i forgot i dont have a rotor arm or air filter so i cant finish it until tomorrow anyway.
