Went over to JKM for a RR day at the weekend and it didn't go exactly to plan...
The Golf is running too much boost and was seen to hit 30psi on the rollers before the run was aborted. It was detting it's t!ts off apparently...
This is down to the N75 map on my car not being right for the Forge actuator that I have fitted recently. Nick tweaked it for my bent actuator last time I was up at R-Tech so I could have at least a bit of boost. In hindsight I shouldn't have even attempted to run it on there but you live and learn
So away I went licking my wounds but they had given me my money back so not all bad. After all that's what rolling roads are for...
So all in I let the mk4 fraternity down (I was the only one there) but I did however manage to get 168bhp and 260lb/ft at 3300rpm, the torque obviously showing the boost spike
A quick vid of the aborted run, note the black smoke when the fuelling was all over the place
To console myself I have decided to throw myself at the wheels again and get them done ASAP so I've been up in the loft at work in my breaks getting as far as I can each day
Before I went off on paternity leave I managed to get them etch primed so it was a quick rub down and a few coats of high build
a quick dust of colour
and a few more coats of colour later
will rub down the paint on there tomorrow and get a final top coat on, then lacquer. Then the tedious job of masking it all up to get the black parts done. Then just a quick balance and they can finally go on!
As usual, comments are welcome
