Clubsport Alcantara Steering Wheel
« on: 01 November 2016, 12:47 »
Has anybody any experience with the care and upkeep of this type of steering wheel? It's lovely and new now but I imagine it won't stay like this forever. Are there any products to treat it to stop it soiling, or is it best to have a regular cleaning regime with specialist cleaning products?

Thanks.

The best way is not to use it,  its a flawed design  (its only purpose is with racing gloves). Without gloves it will deteriorate faster because of the oils from your hands but it would still wear smooth with gloves. I know with suede there are brushes to bring the surface back but that over time is just rubbing the material away, if you really want to keep it nice, you need to re trim it when it wears away or take it off (and get a leather wheel) until you sell the car

I would swap it for a leather one too and keep it somewhere safe, or keep a box of disposable gloves in the car.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
