Clutch Slipping or Rubbers ?

Hi Boys and Girls,

Advice please - I am still running all fours on winter tyres which aren't very grippy unless temperature is below 5 degrees, so on full power my car can often slide even with TC on. But have now noticed that when applying full power after already reaching 30mph, the revs go higher than what the wheels are planting. But only but 400-600 on the revo. Considering that the weather is sunndy and roads are dry, is this my clutch slipping or is it due to my winters not being able to plant the remapped power....?

Sounds like ur DMF has given in, How much miles on your car?

if the wheels were spinning the speedo would go up as well as the rpm.

if just the rpms are going up it sounds like the clutch is slipping

I had this on a Mondeo and it was the dual mass flywheel. Basically the spring between the two halves had too much slack in it. They replaced but after a lot of arguing I'd get it to the stealers ASAP.

Without being rude, do you ride the clutch? Even if you drive with ya foot rested on the clutch it can be enough for it to engage, at least that's what ford told me?

At about 30 mph stick it in 6th gear and put your foot right down,if the revs race away the clutch is slipping.

Yes just rpm's but usually only between 4th and 6th gear

I sometimes coast (with car in gear and clutch down)

Why? Doing that uses fuel to keep the engine ticking over. Coasting in gear  uses no fuel what so ever.
