Title: Alloys
Post by: dlni on 06 May 2003, 15:21
Thinking of buying 17" Wheels with 205 rubber, the prob that could crop up is that I would like the rear wheels to wider than the front, either by wider rimms or a spacer.  Will they fit ?

Why would you want that? It's not a rear wheel drive car and beside nobody would notice. The only difference is you'd be spending more money when it could go on something more worth while.

Just my opinion mind.

True, True but then bigger alloys are all about looks. And having seen it actually done; (http://www.performancevwmag.com/, wallpapers, 3rd row down , 1st on left, light blue mk 4) I think it looks good.  Spacers are not that expensice ?5 each and a lot of the times the wider wheels are no different in price.

mk2's on mighty BBS RS split rims often run 7x15 at the front and 8x15 at the rear. Using spacers is about pushing the wheels out wider to give that 'perfect' stance. It's all about how far you take your GTI styling obsession...  ;)
