Any 1/4 mile fans out there
« on: 20 February 2011, 09:54 »
The strip is always full of golfs and polos etc come gti festival time, how about joining in some proper competition

The 2011 season of VWDRC is coming round fast, and new blood is always welcome and wanted

No matter if you have a high horsepower monster or daily 1.3, you can win in either at bracket racing, its all about the driver

Any of you guys ever thought of doing it?, its one of the cheapest forms of motorsport and a great laugh.

to give you an idea of a range in VW Sportmans class (anything under 13.00)

Mk2 Golf 16v
Mk2 Golf 1.8 driver
Mk2 Scirroco 2l 16v
Mk1 Jetta 1.8 8v
Beach Buggy 1.6 (Turbo)
T25 Camper
Beetle 1776cc
Karman Ghia
Skoda Fabia VrS
Audi 80 Coupe 1.8 16v
Seat Ibiza Tdi

anything and everything from fast to slow, bracket racing is simple and fun (if your not sure what bracket racing is just ask)

depends on the wkend

£195 for Easter 4 day event inc electric and 4 tickets (SP)

£155 for Big Bang 3 day event inc electric and 4 tickets (SP)

£115 for Spring Speed Nationals 2 day event and 4 tickets (SCR)

£155 for Summer Nationals 2 day event inc electric and 4 tickets (SP)

£155 for Bug Jam 2 day event (but your there for 4 days) inc electric and 4 tickets (SP)

£125 for Open Sports Nationals 3 day event inc 4 tickets (SCR)

£155 for National Finals 2 day event inc electric and 4 tickets

SP = Santa Pod     SCR = Shakespear County Raceway

if your mates chip in towards the cost, it works out good, and theres always people within the club who will (sponsor you, i.e have a ticket off you for a little cash if you have any spare)

if you look at bug jam, a ticket this year is about £40 (if your in a vw and book in advance) x4 = £160 so you save a fiver, get to come in on thursday and electric hook up (saves you loads of money for food, and think of the heater if it rains )

I am tempted to enter a couple of events in the GTi, maybe even a bit of Sportsman ET too.

I'll be at all the events anyway as my Dad races in Super Comp.

Tempted to enter Bug Jam as i am there all weekend anyway.

Dad races a super comp dragster.

355ci SBC on methanol. 2 speed glide, nearly ready to go. We raced from 2000 to 2007 with it then completely rebuilt it. Will be at RWYB or Main Event test in next few weeks getting ready to race again.

You seemed to have trouble slowing yours down yesterday didnt you
