any red flags when buying approved used?
« on: 09 September 2017, 09:30 »
Anyone with any bad experiences when buying under the Das Welt Auto scheme?  Been looking at quite a few secondhand GTIs and Rs (2015-2017, between 5-15k miles), all of which come with 12 month warranty.  Some have been mentioned to be demo cars driven by managers.  Because I am exporting to Cyprus and obviously won't be able to just drive the car back to the dealer in case of any issues I'd like to hear of anything i should be aware of, any red flags etc - not just in terms of the warranty but as a buying transaction in general.  Thanks in advance

I guess it's better than an unknown second hand car.
In theory t should have had a thorough check before going on sale.
I wonder if a Cyprus dealer would be able to verify if a "warranty issue" arose and have the warranty underwriters pay them direct?

well from what i was told the warranty is a European one so it's still valid and any faults will be covered under it by my local dealer - unlike the UK there's only one in Cyprus

Fancy marketing at the end of the day who knows if the cars been ragged before yes the warranty is pretty good but das welt doesn't make it any better than another car look at the checklist it's all standard checks.

And I've read on other forums of cars being sold with faults that should have been picked up and rectified under the (142?) Das WeltAuto checklist before being sold but weren't. So some VW dealers aren't being as thorough as they should be in preparing approved used cars for sale.

Always worth asking to see evidence that all the checks have been carried out.
2020 Polo GTI Plus; Pure White, DSG (because they all are)

Hmm.. a couple cars i've shortlisted, the sales managers insist they are in tip top condition.  Thing is, i'd hate to fly all the way from here to there only to find out they are sh*t.
