GTI 8v WONT START!
« on: 08 June 2017, 11:13 »
Hi guys, I'm having trouble to get my 8v to start (D reg).

It turns over fine and won't start, the other day I had it running but when I stopped it,  then it wouldn't start again. I bled the fuel system and gave it a full service including the fuel filter, then it started, but the same thing happened again, drove down the road for a while and it died on me again. I tried bleeding it but no fuel is coming through!  Pipes are not blocked because you can draw petrol through them, the fuel pump primes when you turn the key as well.

Really stuck and it's starting to annoying me now, any advice?

Is the fuel pump noisey? Could be on its last legs.
Also the lift pump in the tank see if you can hear that going

Pump underneath isnt working then. First id check the fuelpump relay.
Id also try and live the pump up with a little bit of wire to see if it runs. If it does it means that the pumps ok.
If you have a early golf you can bridge fuel pump relay by turning the relay around 180 degrees which if it lives the pump shows the realay is duff

Scratch that im sure the relay runs both pumps. Check wiring under back seat to pump. They check power at the pump
