Mk4 golf, passenger door stuck closed!

Heey, i have a 3 door, 2003, mk4 golf and what happened is i pressed the lock button whilst the door was open and closed the door and now it won't unlock again. i've took the door card, window and inner window motor out so i can get pretty good access to the actuator... i've disconnected it all and can't seem to release it and the two bolts to take off the actuator you need the door open, i rang up vw techs and they just said to fiddle with it until it releases which is no help. any ideas please?
