As I recall you can also roughly test the dv too; push the inner cylinder in, cover the small vac line attachment with your finger tip and release the cylinder, it should pull a vacuum and slowly retract ;-)

thanks try that and dv all good.one of the pcv crankcase check valve is bad so change that tomos and see it gose

Don't mean to throw another spanner in the works, but have a good rummage around all of your vacuum pipes, its amazing how many deteriorate with age, I've replaced lots of mine due to this & It seemed to be fine at first glance. Its also amazing how many errors a car can throw with vacuum leaks, its worth a go for the sake of some 3mm Vacuum hose
