Only £7 a month more for an R over the GTi!!! Won't be many Gtis ordered me thinks. Yes a bit more fuel and insurance but think it would be pretty tempting.

5 door manual GTi is £222 per month so even cheaper than listed above.

I'd probably take the GTI as I have to admit a stock R bores me sh!tless these days

I have to agree that seeing the 2 facelifted cars in the flesh, the new GTI front end does look better to me.

I went for this one in the end:

They knocked a bit more off for only 5000 miles

That's a pretty nice deal on the GTi you got. Did you go for any extras and which colour? When are you expecting delivery?

£10 a month less for a proper gearbox https://www.centralukvehicleleasing.co.uk/vehicle/choose_your_lease/78447/volkswagen/golf/20_tsi_gti_5dr.html
£230 less over the full term which might not sound a lot if you're used to spending your food budget on drive through burger joints (if changing gear is too hard work for you then cooking is going to be far too much of a challenge  ) or like sitting in traffic jams* but considering you're going to hand the thing back after 2 years then that's £230 you'll never see again...

*obviously if you have a medical reason to require a DSG you're excused from my light hearted rationale
