iphone 5s bluetooth connection
« on: 22 April 2014, 12:45 »
Firstly, just picked up my first Golf Gti - best car I've ever owned, should have had one years ago.

Okay, hoping someone can help with this one. I'm trying to connect an iphone 5s via bluetooth and it's saying not compatible. Apparently it needs a new ECU costing £500 - anyone found a cheaper way or workaround?

Thanks in advance.

I've had this trying to connect my iPhone 4S, i believe it's the Bluetooth Module which is not compatible with the iphone (mine is a 2010 GTD), they are around £200 on ebay.

I'm sure there was a discussion on this?

Yeah it will be the Bluetooth module under the drivers seat, plug n play
I sold my old one for £120 and bought the later one for £180 off eBay, works fine on the 4s that I had and I've just chanGed my phone to the 5s and no probs with that either
Just had a look at mine and the Part no: is

Hi Neil,

Do you know if it must be this version or are there other options, there are so many different part numbers about.  Just give me more options to keep the cost down.

Thanks,

Martin

There are peeps a bit more qualified than me on here to answer that, but I would of thought as long as the part no revision is D or after and software/ hardware nos were later than that they will do the trick ?
I'm sure someone will be along and put me right

Thanks for the response, thought it would be more difficult that switching a module under the seat. I'll research and purchase from ebay. Thanks

I said above that I have no problem connecting the 5s to the Bluetooth,
That is correct but I have found a problem, I cannot play the music through the MDI cable with the Apple adapter fitted for the new shape connector
Anyone know if it will work with the new type lead ? And not using the adaptor,
Also music will not connect via Bluetooth
Everything was fine with the 4s

Hello! (I am aware this was posted a while ago but hoping someone will reply!)

I am having the same issue with connecting my iPhone 7 to my 09/10 plate MK6 golf and am aware the bluetooth modules needs replacing.

I was wondering if when you replaced the module did it all work correctly with your headunit (I have the RCD510) and your steering wheel buttons?

I want to replace it but want to make sure everything will work as it should before spending that much money!

Also, does anyone know if there any different part numbered bluetooth modules you can install that work properly too?

Thanks!

Hi Kwilkinson

I updated mine to the N version and all works fine with full control from the MFSW; voice control; Bluetooth Audio etc.

As a shameless plug I am selling mine as the car is being traded in, in around a couple of weeks time.
