Sooo.... online chat with VWUK . After some toing and froing the chap said 'after consultation it appears as if the light on your key fob blinks continuously when the battery needs changing'. To which I said 'but I know of other mk7 gti  owners who get a dashboard notification' . Answer ' that's on older models that aren't keyless'.
Right, so for keyless owners who don't have to take their keys out their pockets/bags etc on a regular basis there is a flashing light actually on the key. For owners who need the key in their hand more frequently there is a handy notification on the dash.
Absolutely unbelievable....and I don't believe it.
The saga continues.

I don't have keyless on my current Mk7.5 or my previous Mk7 (14 plate) and both prompt for a replacement battery before it goes flat... so its not even a keyless thing. (don't know if the OP has keyless)

Oh no, Kalimon, so we keyless 2016 PP's don't have it? Damn, I'm possibly going to have to admit my dealer/VWUK are right. But you didn't spot the 'blinking red light' either then?

So MY GTi 2016’s don’t get the notification? But MY2016 R’s and  MY2015 gti’s do.... so is it a money saving thing or a stupid oversight.
