Problem is the build up on number plate and grill on the old ones as it partially interferes with signal, at least enough to throw the limited visibility warning.

I've had it get bunged up by snow on both Mk7 and Mk7.5.

The first time I hit the problem on the Mk7.5 was the first time it snowed a bit - and I mean a bit.

I'm used to it not being available when it snows now.

TBH, its probably not conditions where you want to slacken your concentration off by having the car do its thing anyway...

Am I wrong in thinking that when you see cars that have been driving in sleet or light snow the biggest build up of it is always around the badge, front grille and leading edge of the bonnet?

Mine disabled about 4 times yesterday driving down the A1 to Grantham and back. Snow was light to medium and it obviously built enough each time to block the sensor. Made me think why the hell is something like this not heated, especially given it's so close to the bloody engine!

It might well be heated but snow and low air temp plus wind blast would mean it would need to be very heated indeed to stop that I'd have thought!

I know for definite the old radar sensor is heated but I'm not sure about the new badge one.

It has happened twice to me, but it was whilst sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for over an hour each time. I just turned the car on and off for a second each time and it went away.

Sounds like its not permanently heated by only heats up on start then.... VCDS could probably fix that!

Anyone fancy the job?

I would think it's temperature related.
