Today; we've starter cleaning the engine bay.

afterwards I've put a coat of zincspray on it, to prevent further rust.

first hit it with the wirewheel:

smooth is really nice for sure, however this isn't susposed to be a show car with a cleaned bay...

I wonder how good a cleaned bay would look after 5 years, or 10.

surely it'll be easier to keep clean as it'll have a smooth surface so should just be able to wipe it clean...

Looking good.

As far as the bay goes, I don't think it really matters.  Depends on what you can be ares*d to do.  Smooth takes more prep and time to get a better finish, if you can be bothered, do that.
