It's the 3" system from jdmhondaparts from USA

Says turbo back exhaust in your sig, from that I would have thought you have at least a 2.5" stainless system from Milltek or other brand.
so I thought anything over a 2.5" system you wouldnt get any additional gains
-
Get some ear plugs aswell
-
you will get a better flow which is needed
and that is a good price

-
you need the rubbers from VW as they bolt to the floor
Ahh do they not have replaceable universal runners then?
Any ideas of prices?
Cheers
-
nah afraid not mate. As for prices I think the centre section rubbers are about £14 each (2off), rear ones are around £9 each (1off each type)
I'll see if I can dig out some part numbers tomorrow
-
Ok cheers pal
-
Good system this! I fitted mine about a month ago And as said find some better clamps as the one supplied are sh1t. Had to cut the mounting rods as they were hitting my heat shields And also cut the centre support bit as the back of it was hitting the exhaust but other than than top quality for money and it roars when you spin up!
-
......CAN'T WAIT!
-
looks good for the money seeing as though my LongLife setup cost me around £750

I would be outside right now but need some rubbers, and a bolt for the rear axel bushes as te bolt is stuck in he bush so gonna have to cut it. To drop the axel as for some reason my current exhaust is in one piece :undecided:
But it will hopefully be fitted by the weekend!

Was £220 delivered
-
Just finished fitting it
I'd day it's a pretty good fit the clamps arnt the best so I used the u clamps mainly
Also did my rear beam bushes at te same time
Started by jacking up
(http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa433/golfyste/e3b7f1d8.jpg)
Unbolting downpipe and Removed the centre exhaust bracket and completely dropped the rear beam
(http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa433/golfyste/69838320.jpg)
Sorry about the lack of photos kept forgetting ha
Uses a small jack to hold exhaust up when I unbolted mounts
(http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa433/golfyste/f9892fa5.jpg)
Then dropped the exhaust
(http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa433/golfyste/babaf4fa.jpg)
Then removed
Old versus new
Can't really tell the size difference on photo
But there is a big one
Then fitted new exhaust
First the back box
(http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa433/golfyste/1448ca5a.jpg)
Then the downpipe and centre section
(http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa433/golfyste/b60df285.jpg)
The the over beam piece
(http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa433/golfyste/9cf001fb.jpg)
And bolted/clamped it all together
Then fitted the new rear beam bushes
(http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa433/golfyste/e5c6d33d.jpg)
And then put everything back together
It's not as loud as my

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vz4UIkrsiE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
-
Ive got one of these fitted. They are bloody awesome value for money  infact Id go as far as saying they are underpriced
They sound awesome under load
-
Yeah not to loud on idle/holding at revs but sound awesome when you give it some
-
that sounds the nuts! but i'll probaby end up getting un-resonated miltek system, i'm a bit of a brand whore, and iv noticed buying kit from the USA is cheaper than from anywhere else?!
-
looks a very decent system for the price, have you noticed any difference in performance and how was the fit?
-
Brilliant news mate, Really not sure why we had a bad time fitting my mates one.
Going round in the morning to get the turbo off and drill and re-tap the studs that snapped.
Hopefully have his all fitted tomorro.
Any vids of how it sounds?
-
Nomnomnom, Real good effort mate! Pleased for ya
-
It's definatly good value for money!
Car does feel quite a bit better and more responsive.
Let's I'd know how you get on mark!
No vids as of yet but will try and get some!
-
Looks good - just the right size
-
hi all new on here! just wonna say that i bought the same system last week and fitted and i would say that for the price this system is pritty good compared 2 some systems out there!!
-
My mates is now fitted, Although the exhaust clamps included are utter crap!
Will be swapping them for 'U' clamps tomorro.
The 3 bolts that secure the decat pipe to the down pipe wouldnt tighten up easily as they foweld on the welds, even with the washers fitted.
All done now though
-
Looks good - just the right size
Yeah I think so, nice and discrete

I also found the bolts didn't do up easily but they do go up
And yes I used u bolt bu the one over te axel knocks so I'm going to try get somethin a little smaller and stronger to fix it
-
We was unable to tighten the clamps included enough to hold the exhaust snug, Snapped 2 of them so U clamps are the only way
-
I like the look of these systems, be nice to get a 200 cell cat welded in there and be done with it
-
Dont talk non-sense wazzer! why would anyone put a cat in lol. :D
What size is it over the axle?
-

It's 3" all the way mate

I only say that as it's near on impossible to find a friendly MOT station over here now which is why I chucked a sports cat on mine
-

+1
I have a sports cat, decat is cheaper and gives more power, but if you get pulled I think its a £1,000 fine if they check and like you say the hassle of changing it every year
-
Looks interesting! A genuine 3'' system for proper cheap!
are the boxes 100% straight through? or are they baffled?
I once bought a '2.5 inch' system, and had to cut it up to modify, and found that whilst the pipes and inlets to the boxes were 2.5, the run through the box was only 2''! Complete joke.
if these are a genuine straight through system I might be tempted to try one!

Yes they are
-
I've PM'd them asking for a catback only price. ko3S DP is of no use to me at all!
-
Car all fixed up now nick?! 140mph crash didnt look fun :undecided:
-
it's getting there mate, mechanically back to health, but the bodywork is still shot.
-
Can I ask what you did with the rear lamda, We found the only way to fit the decat pipe was to have the lamda pointing slightly downwards.
That seems to be the only way it clears the car, Just alittle worried about knocking it on a speed bump now.

140mph?! Very lucky to be alive, I'm assuming it was on a track?

Yeah, it's a genuine system. I'm running one, and for the money it is fantastic
-
140mph?! Very lucky to be alive, I'm assuming it was on a track?
Lucky is one word for it! Watch from around 1:40 onwards: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaC8ihrJq_s
How do these systems sound? is it a fairly deep noise?
One thing I noticed when comparing a cheap system to something like a milltek, is that the cheap systems never sound quite as deep, and are always a bit tinny, presumably due to using thinner materials?
Also, the inward rolled lip on the tailpipe looks a bit counter productive to me, anyone else got any pics of them fitted? I'd be very tempted to get one, then fit a different tailpipe, seeing as it slots on!
-
Its not tinny at all, rather deep!
They sound really nice. they are very good quality and the system is as thick as name brand exhaustx

Woah, seriously lucky there! I love how after such a big off your first thought is still getting off the track and out of the way of any further harm :afro:
There are too many youtube vids of people binning it, parking up & then having a chat leaning against the car.
With regards to the exhaust it's quite deep and boomy at low revs & on the overrun, with a bit of a rasp higher up the rev range. I can get a picture of mine fitted but I wanted mine to be discreet, so chopped the tail pipe off and had a section of ally welded on instead.
I can also get a video to try and show how it sounds, not sure how well my phone will pick it up though :undecided:
-
Anyone got any videos of one of these yet?
I'm REALLY tempted to get one! just want to see how they sound first!
-

Lucky escape from the crash mate glad your all ok
I will get a bid this weekend and post a link on ere
-
video of the exhaust http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AycdeBjhO9E
-
I quite like that! Cheers Mark.
Sounds a bit deeper than I expected, and that's a very thorough video too!
my mate has a volvo S4o turbo, with around 230bhp, and it sounds SO much better than my 300bhp 1.8T, it upsets me hugely. We both have turbo back systems with big downpipes and a single rear box, but his is a 3'' system with a nice deep rumble, and my milltek 2.5'' system is as quiet as anything!
-
Yeah nice vid
I will still get a vid and try get a few drive by/launches
-
that'd be cool man.
I've messaged them asking for a catback only system, and they won't split it
I guess I'll have to buy the lot and try and sell the decat section seperately. Shame.
-
Just a quick one on the way home from work

I should really have bought Dave's when he was selling it

Yeah does sound pretty sweet
Will try get some better videos
-
Guys I hope you dont mind but there was some one on edition38 asking about these exhausts,
I shamefully pinched your vids and posted them on there. If its a problem please let me know
and ill remove hem
-
It's ok mate don't worry about it
Sorry lads but not had chance to get any more vids yet as I spent all day yesterday in hospital with our lass has she has a sist :undecided: but promise I will get some soon
-
Only a very short one but still not had chance to get some proper ones :undecided:
-
haha, you build us up when we see you've posted, then shoot us back down again
What are the tailpipes on these like? they looked a bit average from the poor pics I've seen to date. I was thinking of getting one and trying to get a different tailpipe on there to liven it up visually a tad.
-
Sorry didn't Ben put the vid on haha
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMj1oP4Q9SQ&feature=plcp
They are good quality and are quite discreet which I like but depends on opinions
-
Whats it like sat at 70 on the motorway?
-
I want one lol
-
Whats it like sat at 70 on the motorway?
Its completely fine mate not loud at all compared to my old exhaust a little bit of a drone but nothing substantial I don't even notice it.
Will try get a vid of that two but just not had chance lately
I want one lol
-
Whats it like sat at 70 on the motorway?
I took a couple of vids yesterday, first one is cruising at 70-75 the short burst of acceleration at the end is 70-80:
http://s790.photobucket.com/albums/yy183/codling1234/?action=view¤t=VIDEO0091.mp4 (http://s790.photobucket.com/albums/yy183/codling1234/?action=view¤t=VIDEO0091.mp4)
This on is coming onto a dual carriageway main acceleration is ~25-85, sound quality isn't fantastic as it was recorded on my phone and the cradle it was in caused a little bit of rattling:
http://s790.photobucket.com/albums/yy183/codling1234/?action=view¤t=VIDEO0092.mp4 (http://s790.photobucket.com/albums/yy183/codling1234/?action=view¤t=VIDEO0092.mp4)

Cheers for those Dom, sounds pretty meaty doesn't it!
-
Got a video not great I'm afraid. Phone was in the cup holder with front windows open. Last boot was through a tunnel. Hope it doesn't should too bad. !!

I wish They Did these as a 2.5". Increadable value.
They are loud no doubting it. But do you think welding this

After the dp will quiet it down?

Why woul you want 2.5" over 3?
As I said its not that loud on a normal drive
I don't even notice it and don't hear it over any music I have on.

decided as soon as I get paid one of these will be in my possession :afro:

This really isnt a loud exhaust,
Exactly. Even if it is for £60 you could add an extra silencer in
-
Just bought one lol
Will get my mate to fit it ASAP so I can flog on my Blueflame system and Miltek sports cat

Ha! You guys must be deaf. That is BL   DY loud!
-
I'm liking that.... not sure the missus will though
Mine might be a bit quieter once I stick a sports cat in
-
Can anyone recommend any good clamps to use with this system as the ones supplied are up to sh1t
!
-
I'll be using these I think...
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-PIPE-clamp-3-inch-diameter-/251140163868?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a791ec91c
-
or possibly these?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Exhaust-Clamps-3-76mm-Job-Lot-x-10-/260835095591?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cbafbb427
-
Wazzer will you be getting a cat Welded in straight away? I'm really hoping it calms things down a little
-
Wazzer your first link is what they supply you with and the second is what I am using now but it's blowing where it goes over the rear axle and keeps banging on the rear axle where there are 2 or more people in the car. The first would be ideal if they were just over 3 inches.
-
I have just ordered one of those mikalor clamps so will see how that works
-
I'm desperately trying to convince myself that I don't need one of these right now. I'm building a new forged engine, and in theory, it'll benefit from a full 3'' exhaust, but it's expensive enough as it is at the moment! argh. decisions.
-
Not straight away mate but I'll need one before the MOT in the new year. I've also spied a 3" silencer on ebay if it's needed.
-
How about these?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MIKALOR-BOOST-HOSE-CLAMP-CLIP-RS-TURBO-COSWORTH-74-79MM-/120969464277?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c2a5789d5
-
That's what I have ordered so will see how they go when fitted

Sweet. I also have some high temp silicone sealant to use on the joints rather than just exhaust paste so that should help
-
How many clamps do we need people? 3 possibly 4?
-

I've used the Mikalor clamps with some sealant and I used 4 iirc
-
OK guys. you've won. I gave up.
Just ordered my 3'' exhaust :)
Wonder what it'll sound like when there's a ko4 hybrid blowing through it at 340bhp?
-
 Amazing!
-
That's the hope!
How is it that these exhausts seem to be limited to this forum?
it seems like the buy of the century, yet on every other vag forum i've never heard any mention of them at all!
-
If they make the gains people expect it will only be a matter of time before everyone uses them and the price rockets
-
Got my windscreen mount for my iPhone yesterday so got a small acceleration vid...

Awesome prawny can't wait to hear it and I don't har a clue why noone knows about t haha
-
That sounds fantastic Ste, my car sounds OK at the moment, but it's a bit quiet for my liking.
With all that power you kind of want it to sound a bit more mean don't you? :)
-
Video doesn't really do it justice IMO partly because it's in standard def and also it just doesn't pick it all up.
But it's strange it sound awesome outside without being really loud inside with the windows closed
But will see I may end up getting rid of the centre box
Yeah power isn't just about speed the sound also counts
-
exactly!
I have 300bhp, and what sounds like a vacuum cleaner on steroids.
A mate of mine has 240bhp in a volvo T4 track car. His car is nowhere near as quick as mine, but the noise it makes with a full 3'' turbo back system makes me jealous every single time we go for a drive! Even though I can leave him no trouble.
Odd isn't it?
I won't be removing the middle box though, I need it to remain under 100dba for trackdays, but I do have a plan to add a 3rd silencer onto the back mounted horizontally if needs be for trackdays.
-
Another one now in hi def
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSZa1MlL2Ek
-
How long did yours take to arrive Ste?
Not that I've got an engine in the car at the moment anyway, just keen to get it in my hands :)
And then I can sell my milltek too!
-
Same here mate, no word on it being posted yet... I'm still trying to work out what to tell the missus when it turns up lol
-
Mine came in about 5 days
-
Bought mine last week and the guy said due to a holiday on monday in America it wont arrive until either thursday or wednesday which i still didnt think was a bad service anyway
-
Ok so made a little compilation vid of the exhaust
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi2AKGPKSuw
Will try get one of normal cruising sound
-
TBH I was expecting it to sound a lot louder than that. The wife and kids will be pleased lol
Just bought some Mikalor clamps, first job after fitting will be getting a downturn tailpipe made before the fumes kill me
-
Exhaust sounds sick mate , looks like great value aswell.
I'll definaetly be investing in one soon but am with wazzer , I'd probs get a sports cat put on to save hassle at MOT time.
Reckon welding on one of the 3" sports cats to the downpipe work alright? There's a few on eBay for about £100.
-
soon find out mate, I'll have a measure up once it arrives and let you know. Might lose the 3 bolt join on the downpipe but I'm not particularly bothered about that
-
Mine came today :laugh:box full of nice shiny bits

Really like the sound of that hope mine comes out sounding that good
-
It's this sort of thing I had in mind to weld on. Hope it fits and passes emissions lol.

-
yep that's the one I had in mind too
-
Lads, wouldn't it just be easier to get a special MOT rather than going to the trouble of having a CAT fitted?
-
Special MOT?
i dont know anyone well enough up here to ask them to fake it.
unless anyone in aberdeen does?
-
It's a nightmare trying to get one over here. Might put the feelers out though
My exhaust is currently in the home of Elvis; Memphis, Tennessee :afro:
-
Fitted the mikalor clamp and much much better  no banging on the rear beam because of the silly u clamp. Going to order 3 more and do the whole set
-
excellent stuff, I've got 4 on the way to save doing it all again later lol
It's now in Stansted :afro:
-
It has arrived :afro:
only problem is the downpipe gasket is missing
-
Ahh savage mate, message them? Sure they will sort it but it's probably easier and quicker to go to tps and buy a new One for a few quid.
-
nooo the gasket that joins the two parts of the downpipe together
Also no bolts to secure it together either
-
:undecided:
doesnt sound good :lipsrsealed:
-
do these line up with the anni valance?
-
I believe so mate
-
shame they dont make an r32 style 3 inch
-
shame they dont make an r32 style 3 inch
+1
Give them time!
-
Wazzer: you don't need a gasket on that joint mate. just some high temp red silicon does the job perfectly. it's what everyone with a relentless downpipe uses and no reports of failures yet. mine's been on and off several times and sealed up perfectly with the silicon each time.
Also, if they have supplied a turbo - downpipe gasket, DON'T USE IT!!!!!
Only ever use OEM gaskets on the exhaust sytems, the perforated style ones won't last long at all.
Also, with regards to the mikalor clamps, by all means use them where space is very tight, but you'll probably find they don't offer much resistance to the two sections rotating against each other. they're a fantastic clamp with a very circular clamping force, but if the exhaust has the chance to sag and twist away from level, it'll most likely do it with a mikalor clamp on there.
One combat option it to get everything lined up and clamped, then put a tiny tac weld in just one place on each joint to stop rotation. easily chipped off with a chisel to remove, but keeps it all sitting nice and square to stop it banging and knocking.
Mines at the depot ready for me to collect now :)
-
You reckon this would do mate?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GREY-RTV-HIGH-TEMPERATURE-750F-400C-GASKET-SEALANT-SEALER-MAKER-85G-TUBE-/180802347275?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a18a8e10b
I have "found" some bolts with locking nuts and spring washers at work today so that's not a problem, I was going to use a gen turbo to manifold gasket anyways, the ones supplied look proper nasty lol
I'm using some high temp silicone on all the joints but a tack won't hurt, cheers for the advice mate
The centre bulge doesn't look like it's actually a silencer so if it's too loud I might get one added at a later date (depends if I get moaned at)
-
That stuff should be absolutely fine mate. i forget the temp rating of the red stuff I use but it's fairly similar.
Like you, I'm not discounting the possibility of needing to add a box to this system, but a 316 stainless box from birchalls, 16x4'' with 3'' bore is oanly around £45-50, so should easily be let in in place of the resonator that's on the system already.
I need mine to come in under 100dB for trackdays, although if I like being a noisey chav on the road i've come up with another plan to ghetto mount a 3rd silencer across the back of the car on trackdays to get the sound down.
-
yeah I'll have a word with the guys who I'm getting to sort my tailpipe and see what price they can come up with to add a silencer at some point too
Anyone know the thread and size of the lambda sensor in the Golf? Need a blank
-
Did it not come with any blanks? Mine came with two!
Will have a look look at the size later or I it easier I could post you one
-
I'm starting to think I've been done over here lol
Either would be great mate cheers.
I'll be ordering the turbo gasket in a mo and I'll get some sealant for the other join. They have agreed to refund me some money so not all is lost
-
Well I will do both
Pm your address an then if you can find anythin you can wait for it to arrive
Yeah but in my eyes, for how cheap the system is, small things like that arnt a problem
-
Thanks mate you're a star. Yeah it's not like I'm getting it fitted tomorrow and need the parts straight away...
-
-
Size is m18x150 and about 15mm long
Got your address will post it in Mornin
-
Mine's arrived, the cardboard box was almost destroyed, there's a tiny dent on the back box fromt being abused, the centre section has been squashed on the end and is now not round, and there was one bolt and nut in there, the rest had fallen out through holes in the box! Not too impressed with the way FEDEX have treated the parcel to be honest, it's near wrecked.
The exhaust will probably straighten, and I wouldn't be using the bolts anyway, but it's really annoyed me. going to mail the seller in the morning.
Exhaust looks nice though.
-
I think this thread needs to go cos its makin me want it (bar the last reply)
-
Rio you know it's all over when you come and listen to mine later!
No bragging but my box was in good shape with everything in. They put the blanking bolts in finger tight so if you get stuck wazzer I will post you one
-
Cheers for the offer mate but Ste has kindly sorted me out
Fedex must be having a bad day, although there were definitely no lambda blanks. Ironic really as I wouldn't need them one if I had an ARZ/AUM/AUQ lol
Like I said bolts weren't really a problem as I found some bolts, spring washers and lock nuts at work (not nylocs as they don't like the heat). Turbo to downpipe gasket has been ordered as well as some new nuts and will be here Tuesday and I'm off down Halfords later to see if they have any high temp liquid gasket
Cheers for the help so far, Prawny let me know what happens with yours
-
Sent it this Mornin mate
Hope you get it all sorted soon
-
Shame some of you have had problems, When I ordered my mates it was delivered within 24 hours
and come with no damage and nothing missing, Must have been lucky
-
Tbh I think ones with problems have just been unlucky I got a extra tail piece haha
-
Tbh I think ones with problems have just been unlucky I got a extra tail piece haha
We had 3 tail pieces or varying lengths,
-
Got a short one and two long ones  there's only two on the picture
-
Right then lads I just need one more bit of help if poss...
Can someone get me a pic of the back box where the tailpipe fits on in relation to the outside?
I just want to see roughly how long my tailpipe needs to be
-
hey guys
i had this exhaust fitted on friday and tbh im kinda dissapointed with it,
seems to knock alot and the jubillee type clamp wont hold the rear box in- keeps blowning no matter how much i do it up- a u clamp just knocks on the rear axle- how did everyone else do theres?
mark
-
Use the Mikalor clamps and tighten them as much as possible!
-
I trimmed the centre mounting rods down as they were hitting the heat shields, use mikalor clamps. They give yOu better clearance over the rear axle and make a better seal. Seal it with high temp silicone or exhaust assembly paste. Had a bit of trouble with mine but it is running perfect now

I can second that!! Think this system sounds the nuts.... Just need to sell my old exhausts befor I get it
-
i want one of these exhausts so bad, im thinking of selling my R32 rear bumper and getting a anni valance(petrol version)). Has anyone got pictures fitted with an anni valance with cutout? plus im quite low would this pose a problem with the exhaust hitting the rear beam?
-
Rio I recon you could almost cover the cost with your anni rear box and decat. I still have my standard system if you want that while you sell yours.
-
ok ill order some mikalor ones as the the other type jubilee clamp broke when tightening-
thanks guys
-
Even Mikalors will snap if you tigthen too far.
One thing I did notice about the system, is that the expansions are a bit too big, so each section doesn't fit inside the next tightly, it's a bit open.
Plenty of High temp silicon and a good clamp should sort it, but it's not quite the glove like fit you get with a milltek
-
Another observation whilst looking over the system and measuring up for some new clamps this morning.
the whole system is full 3'' internal the whole way, until the tailpipe.
the inward rolled end of the tail pipe actually reduced the final diameter down to 2.5''!
I'll be cutting mine down anyway as I want a raw looking straight exit, but thought it was worth noting :)

good job they give you an extra tip then
-
exackery!!!!
I'll see which length tip is a 'typical' fitment, I assume the shorter one is the one to use. then I'll cut the longer one down to suit my needs. might even give it a slight upward kink as I always feel that looks better.

Only thing is thats a video with the camera right next to the exhaust of course it gonna be loud.
But when your in the car it isn't "brutal"
-
in the car its very boomie (is that even a word lol) but in a good way i cant wait for mine to come.
-
I think It depends what you mean, it's definatly not very loud at cruising speed as my old exhaust was much louder, but does have a nice soundtrack when you floor it.

No bending needed at all, Its very well made
-
Just a quick one - will this fit behind a standard valance (no cut out)
-
nope, just chuck a 45 or 90 degree downturn on there like I have
-
We're did you get yours from wazza?
-
Just cut the standard one
-
Just cut the standard one
Haha I want it hidden :)
I will be smoothing in a valance so it is all concealed in the bear future!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=3%22+90+DEGREE+stainless&_sacat=0&_odkw=3%22+90+DEGREE&_osacat=0&_from=R40
plenty to choose from on there but ask if they can flare one end for you. I had this guy flare the end for no extra cost
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120990607219?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I then cut it half way to give a 45degree ish look.
Or if you know someone that can flare pipe I have the other half at work somewhere
This is how mine looked finished

Wazzer that actually looks really good man! I'm half tempted to do the same myself!
-
cheers :afro:
If you need it I've got the other half here mate, just needs the end flaring, cut some slots and job done
-
So does the exhaust fit perfectly into the exhaust cut out of the anni valance?
-
So does the exhaust fit perfectly into the exhaust cut out of the anni valance?
No, you need to cut the valance slightly.
-
So would it be better to get a diesel anni valance and make a good cut out, do you have to cut it by much?
-
So does the exhaust fit perfectly into the exhaust cut out of the anni valance?
No, you need to cut the valance slightly.
yes it does fit in the centre with the anni valance fitted
-
well, it's fitted, and it's awesome!!!!
No idea why, but mine doesn't sound anything like the other clips posted, it sounds far more refined and less loud.
I fitted it Monday, and I've driven 450 miles with it on down to cornwall and back, and on cruise it's no louder than my miltek non res system was. on idle it's perfectly quiet with a really nice deep note, then on full chat it sounds epic!
Will try and get a decent clip later, but here's a few little ones I took:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vi6FnpiBvGA

Very happy with this indeed :)

I would do mate, but I think Manchester is a bit far away!
What gets me, is all the other clips people have put up they sound really loud and kind of harsh if you get me, yet mine sounds REALLY smootha nd soft somehow :S
-
These exhausts all sound great.I want a 1.8T for 2013...
-
still need to fit mine

You happy that its not super loud? Where you based anyway man
-
Very happy :) I didn't buy it for the noise, I bought it for the 3'' flow capabilities because I want to get the absolute maximum possible from my setup to see what can be achieved.
I needed it to come in under 100dBa for track days, and I'm fairly confident it will be easily under that, I'll be surprised if it's much over 90dBa at 4500rpm.
I'm in Basingstoke mate
-
Is 3" system too big for 180bhp mk4 tdi?? Got fabricated 3" system on car I'm breaking superbly made dint want it go to waste.
-
xtetx, I am happy to show you my 3" system/get an idea of what it sounds like/compare to yours. It is a little louder than my milltek. I am up near Blackburn. Car may go in the next 2 weeks though...

Awesome man, ive not driven my car in a week because i had an issue with a gearbox bracket - the one that then connects to the engine mount. (had to buy a brand new one from VW (76 quid! urgh )
Well anway , for some reason, my exhaust has really quieted down, or maybe im getting used to it, but really seems not much louder than a standard exhaust really, under load sounds great but im really surprised how it has stopped being so noisey!
-

cheers pal! how come your getting rid?
-
Because I just dont use it enough anymore. Commuting 50miles a day in a track orientated 350bhp Mk4 golf is a bit silly!
Seems better someone else has it now.
It will either be gone or SORN in a couple weeks. Let me know if/when you want to meet.
-
anybody no if these are still goin???? can you link me up on here please??? :D unless im going blond i cant see a link to these babies :-S

You tryin to upset me?? Cos it's workin
But thanks to you the carbon canister has gone (cheers for the guide)
-
Well here we go, had a few nigly problems which I will elaborate on...
Stripped the Blueflame off with my mate today to put the 3" system on. First problem we encountered was the lack of room next to the pipe at the turbo flange end meaning you couldn't get much purchase on the nuts to do them up. Got over this with a spanner, just took a long time.
Next up was the downpipe join. Make sure you join this together off the car as there isn't much room under there to get to the nuts/bolts.
All in all it fits well and I haven't had any banging off the rear beam or on any heatshields. The only problem I am getting is the joins are far too slack. I swamped them with high temp silicone but this acted as a sort of lube meaning the downpipe to mid section kept twisting. I'll be doing this again soon but probably spot welding it as Prawny suggested a while back.
Oh and it's quite noisy. I'm hoping it will calm down, if not I'll have to get an extra box added in as the missus and kids will go nuts lol

Cut the tailpipe right back to give it a bit more clearance

Those clamps that come with the exhaust are poop! they snap when you try to tighten them up enough to hold the exhaust. We replaced them with large u clamps
-
They are big ass Mikalors lol
Might give a U clamp a go though
-
That looks pretty damn nice Wazzzer. Be interesting to see what you think of the sound. Is it much louder than the blueflame? 3" is never going to be a quite affair though.
Btw, do you know a guy called Gaaables?
-
I used U clamps on all the joints apart from the axle joint Wazzer,
I had Mikalors, but even cranked up with the imact gun they just wern't enough to clamp it to stop rotation.
80mm U-clamps on there now cranked down with the impact gun and it's solid. The slip joints ARE too slack on these, but it's easily worked around with some bad-ass clamps :)
Looking good, I'd be interested to hear how loud it is, as mine's not loud in the slightest :S
-
I'll download an app for the phone later and see what it says. Will get some U clamps later
-
I tried the apps, it just bounced around a lot.
Very interested to hear yours though, I was SO surprised when I fired mine up and it was quiet, I mean, really quiet! can happily standard behind the car on idle and chat away and it's not intrusive at all. doesn't even drone.
I did cut off the inward rolled lip on mine (what's the point in an inward rolled lip to trap gasses and reduce the CSA?), but yours hasn't got one either being down turned.
Most odd. I'll get a vid of mine on the dyno on sunday :)
-
haha nice job wazzzer, i had to cut a tiny bit of my peasant plastic valance so my 45 degree downturn would fit, im going for anni valance smoothed in to the rest of the bumper so i will have to chop mine down too!
so these u clamps are the best way are they?? i spent 25 quid on them Mikalor clamps!
-
Mikalors are a fantastic clamp, and give a great even pressure all the way round.
sadly, in this instance, what you really want is a big bastard U-clamps to crush the bastards together!
I had to use an impact gun on the Mikalor over the axle to get it to tighten down, and mikalors do have a habbit of popping off the spot welds there they roll around the thread if you overtighten.
All in all though, I LOVE this exhaust. it's amazing.
-
-
I've just tried it with an app on mine, from about a metre away at the valance level it's reading 77db.
Tick over is fine, it's just a bit loud when cruising. I'll give it till Christmas to decide whether to get another box added in. Once I get my windscreen mount for my phone I'll get some vids of driving. First thing to do is get the clamps sorted
I do love it though, we've got got it spot on with no knocking or banging even going over some harsh speed bumps
-
update - missus and kids have spoken; an extra box will be added in shortly. Does anyone have the exhaust to hand so I can get a measurement of the resonator? This ideally where I'd like to fit the extra box
-
I'd like to voice my concern over an issue I have with these exhausts.
Its for those of you who are running with the post cat Lamda. Due to large diameter of the pipe work the lamda can no longer be fitted in the original position and only be fitted buuy turning the pipe so the sensor sits at the lower part of the pipe which causes it to sit quite low.
My friend caught the Lamda on a speed hump which caused the wires to be pulled out of it, He didn't notice this at the time and resulted in a blown ECU as the wires shorted out. When the sensor wiring shorts it causes loss of throttle on the fly by wire system and the only fix is a replacement ECU.
Now fixed with a recoded replacement ECU and a new lamda fitted, 60 miles on and the Lamda has been damaged again. Now I'm sure those of you who do not have to negotiate speed bumps often will not have a problem but for those of you who do, Please take care and ensure you place atleast 2 wheels on the bump to avoid catching the sensor.
My friends car is due to have a stage 2 remap in the near future and he will be looking into having the post cat sensor mapped out so a blanking plug can be fitted in its place.
-
I had a 3" exhaust, ran fairly low and encountered a lot of large speed bumps. There must be a better way to position the probe.
Or was I just incedibly lucky?
Wazzer how is yours fitted and can you compare it to the on eon the car Russ now has?
Is it the same positioning as yours? May be of help to others?
-
we tried turning the pipe all ways and it fouls the underside of the car in all positions other than having the lamda pointing slightly downwards,
-
I am running this and had not problems with the post cat..
-
I am running this and had not problems with the post cat..
In what position is your Lambda fitted?
-
I think it pops out to the side, defo not pointing down. The only issue I have is it rubs on the fuel tank heat shield bloody annoying.
-
Yours sounds like its in the same place, It sort of pops out the side but slightly downwards,
Its not protected like the original position of the sensor was.
-
my old dp was the same but never had a problem, but then again im standard hight!!!
-
Aaron I'll have a good look when I pop over there this week. Bizarrely we were on the same boat on the way home yesterday lol
-

Just to let you know, this will not work at all I'm afraid.
When the post cat lamda is 'mapped out', it's not actually mapped out at all, but simple the threshold value at which it'll trigger a CEL is raised to a point where it is no longer a worry.
The actual sensor itself must remain in position and fully working, or you will still have problems.

Just a little!!
-
next mod is a fire extinguisher
isnt that dangerous, itll be kicking some heat off ?
-
already got a fire ext. to hand in the cabin.
You may notice all the extra heat shielding in the bay too, it goes from the steering rack, right up and returns forward under the scuttle too, as well as comming all the way round from the rack past the servo and right up to the engine mount.
Many people don't fit the extra shielding with these manifolds, and that IS scary!
The stock ko3s and cast manifold will glow that bright too on a stage 2 car!
-
Yeah I did see all that on yours, I need to do something on mine because I have the K04 charge pipe and it does get very toasty...
Well I am going stage 2 soon so I will do it at the same time, where did you get the heatshielding from?
-
all the shielding came from Merlin Motorsport mate :)
-
Thanks Prawny, I'll check it out
-
Man that is running hot. I never saw my mani glow at all on any power run. Best bhp was 350bhp. Do you get warping to the flanges at all?
-
Aaron I'll have a good look when I pop over there this week. Bizarrely we were on the same boat on the way home yesterday lol
Let me know how it goes and what you find.
Odd timing about boat but at least he got one, eventually! Did you like the car?
-
Yeah I love the fact it looks near enough standard from the outside
-

What turbo, and manifold though mate?
The relentless manifolds glow like that on a stage 1 mapped car, even the stock manifolds glow like a light bulb.
It's also dependant on the rollers you're on, inertia based dynos like AMD don't load the car up anywhere near as much as a load based dyno. On AMD's rollerers it was a very dim glow after 4 power runs.

Yeah its a totally different set up. GT28rs turbo and previously an APR inconnel manifold and now a Pipewerx stainless steel one.
I was just wondering if with that much heat in it the flanges ever warped and previously when it got too hot my APR one did. (now corrected that issue though!)
-
I have the same system on mine, minus the Decat because when i bought it 2nd hand it diddnt come with it, mine sounds pretty nice without the decat tho. wouldnt mind getting the decat, but them in the USA wont sell me the decat by its self.
and on cruize its pretty reasonable and unnoticeable.

Another dyno vid for those still undecided about these :)

Love the little flames at the end :P
-
God dam. That sounds a beast! So will a 3" exhaust be ok on a not so beefy 1.8t? I think i need to read all this thread tonight.
I was set on a miltek cat back for sound but.......
-
anybody having issues with o2 sensor on this?
-
in what way buddy? Fitment or operation?
In terms of fitment, both would fit just fine on mine.
In terms of operation, the front lamda won't be effected by this at all, but you will get a CEL thrown up from the second lamda due to the lack of cat.
-
Mine seems to have quietened down (or I'm starting to go deaf) but it's still a bit loud over 3k lol

im getting the engine managment light on, says o2 sensor, shall i just replace it do you think?
-
anyone tried using a spacer to see if this works??
oh and no-one is allowed to buy one till i get mine.... car is still garaged on ramps with no exhaust and i miss driving it, its been a month
-
i might be getting mine this weekend! :lipsrsealed: early xmas present from the family  sorry mate lol
-
no chance... he's out of stock for about 2 more weeks, they're on their way to him as we speak!!! i been in contact with him for a while
-
im getting the engine managment light on, says o2 sensor, shall i just replace it do you think?
Replacing it won't do anything.
The problem you have is that you've decatted the car.
The reason these run 2 o2 sensors is to monitor if the cat is working or not. It should see a different result at the second sensor after the car, but because you've got no cat it's seeing the same gas and thinking the cat isn't working, hence your light.
This needs to be mapped out.
Some people have used spacers and the like with varying success, but to do it properly and ensure the light doesn't come back you need the map altered to suit.
-
No problems here with fitment/EML on
-

Same, I've done around 3k miles in mine now with no EML light.
-
Glad you guys have finally seen the light
Pretty sure I was one of the first to have one of these sent over, said I was thinking about running a group buy on them and he knocked another £10 off
Then got charged import duty/tax and messaged the seller about it and he fully refunded it!
Can't fault the bloke and received it really quickly, shame it didn't fit on the mk2
-
You could have chopped it up to fit lol

Cheers Prawny, you had a map on yours?
Im sure will be reet once i eventually book in at rtech

Yea man, you could say that
http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=244468.0
Mine's an AGU though, so never had a second lamda sensor in the first place. I have a wideband AFR gauge hooked up to a sensor in the second hole in the downpipe :)
-
mate, that is so insane!
need to sort out a few bits on mine, and ill be booking in to rtech!
you need to get a full build on here!
-
So does this 3" better than the usual 2.5" for a ko3s?
-
What size are these over the axle?
Just wondering if it would be cheaper to buy this exhaust and mate it up to my TT downpipe rather than buying 3" stainless straights and bends
-

3'' everywhere Chris.
I too was looking to make my own 3'' stainless system, and had priced up all the bends and straights, f-bands I'd need to make a really nice system, but when this came along, it worked out well over £100 cheaper, with no labour to pay either!
I bought the complete system, and sold the downpipe it came with for £70, so the entire system owes me £150.
it's fantastic.
-
Thats not too bad, I too would be left with a downpipe :(
However, im wanting to try make my remus backbox fit which I think is only 2.25" at the entrance to the backbox and twin pipes out.....it sounds soooo nice at 250bhp.
Somehow, I think a 3" pipe straight out the back will be a bit too much without a silencer maybe?
-
It has a silencer at the back chris, a reasonably sized one at that but it's not restrictive so all good
-

What's your power Goal again Chris? 2.25'' sounds too small for even 250bhp really!
-
2.25 will make 250....just!
It's what I had on mine before the 3" but was a big limiting factor!
-
i was looking on niks(rtech) facebook and seen the agu ko3s that runs 262bhp,what exhaust did that have?
-
Has anyone got a link to these as I think I'm gona buy one cheers
-
You could have chopped it up to fit lol
Yeah I know mate, would have been a right pain though..
Still trying to get a 2.5'' Jetex system for mine, without paying the world for it.
Mk2 bits command a premium
-
He hasn't got them in stock at the moment
Just keep your eye on this thread and I'm sure you will find out when they are back in stock
-
Ok cheers buddy are they off eBay mate

Yeah - jdmhondaparts

GTX3071r - so depending on what boost is run etc...could seen between 5-600bhp. my downpipe is 3" i managed to get. Of course I would modify the 2.25" backbox to take the 3" pipe.
-

He's gonna let me know as soon as they are in, and when I know, you all will know!!

Cool cheers buddy
