...then I went round the rear and pulled it off.
« on: 31 July 2005, 19:21 »
I'm respraying my Cabrio at the moment and I want to take the black number plate surround off so I can do the bootlid properly. Only trouble is that the trim fixings that hold this piece on are not reusable as far as I can see. Once they're out, they can't be used again.

Before I remove this bit I need to know if you can still get these trim fixings? They look like large flat headed black screwheads that push into the bootlid.

Thanks,

Phil

I think I know which ones you mean but I'd say it's a quick call to the stealers parts dept to see if you can still get them.  :undecided:

I ripped mine off a few months ago, gives it a cleaner look I reckon. Tried to get it off without damaging it, but ended up breaking it

Loads better without it mate, you'll find nice fresh paint underneath

Personally I'm going to put it back on but thanks for the heads up Gibby; VW do still stock these clips.

It's about the only Mk1 Cabrio thing they do though...
