Well, lads, its been a while.
Thought i would give you all an update, I've been off the forum for a while and my MK4 finally goes tomorrow.
With the money back out of my MK4 i was able to get a new car.
Sounds random, but met up with fellow forum member Delta Force for a doughnut at Trafford Krispy Kreme, and after taking his 3.2 out for a spin, i was sold on one. I had been looking around previously and we ended up browsing gumtree over a brew.
That Sunday night we drove all the way to Scotland from Manchester to pick up this. I got home at 4am, and was up for work at 6am

Ignore the black dots, this was on the camera lens, these seats are absolutely mint condition.

Engine bay was filthy and the car has been sat for 6 months. Only issue with it was that a lambda sensor needs changing.
So got the car home and it drove so smoooth and quite until you give it some beans.
I had come to realize that the fan would not blow at all, so this was on the list to sort.
Apart from that, i couldnt really fault the car, drives amazing.
So far this is the spec of the car:
Audi 3.2 V6 Quattro
Audi S3 black headliner and all black trim (ie map light, handles and sun visors)
S3 rear spolier
Recaro CS black leather seats and matching rears out of a MK5 R32
Xenon headlights
dual climate control
air con (think this needs re-gassing)
Facelift front end (2006-2008)
Later spec genuine audi 17" wheels
56,800 miles on the clock.
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/xtetx/CF58074E-79AA-42BC-8ED6-0BFCB7C92AEA_zpszudookf6.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/xtetx/media/CF58074E-79AA-42BC-8ED6-0BFCB7C92AEA_zpszudookf6.jpg.html)
I have given the car a good clean in and out, cleaned the engine bay, and bought a leather arm rest for the front (missed having one as i had one in my mk4)

Delta Force sorted out my front bumper as it was not aligned correctly.

Also, he got to the bottom of my fan not working, took off the glove box + unbolted the fan, sprayed some WD40 and got my fan motor un-seized.

Ordered some AP coilovers for now, but looking to stick air ride on and some nice wheels. Might even go 19s on this.
-
Very nice!! Thought you was getting a tt? Anyway looking forward to seeing what you do with this beast!.
-
Glad you did not get a tt, woman's car
-
Haha yeah took the TT out, wasn't for me. View of the road was hard to see and the power wasn't all that great, maybe it was just the car I had taken out, maybe it had something wrong with it haha but it felt slow
-
As I said on FB, looks like a good buy :afro:
The TT's that I have driven have been very hit and miss in terms of performance and how they feel on the road, how they've been looked after makes a massive difference.
Looking forward to seeing this progress

Cheers dude!
And yeah man i think the MK5 platform is next level, it drives so much better i dont know why i didnt do it sooner, still love the MK4 though, will always have a soft spot in my heart. Still the best looking VW in my eyes
-
View of the road was hard to see
Are you of diminuitive stature?
-
Haha I am 5ft 4 yeah but the A pillar is massive and just makes it awkward to view to the side
-
Glad you did not get a tt, woman's car
women have good taste then as a decent tt will drive great
-
I'm trying to convince the GF to let me get her a 225 TT and let me keep the TDI MK4 for leaving at peoples houses.
-
Nice choice
-
Cheers Wayne!
-
Almost bought one of these a while ago.
HPA turbo conversion would be great on this.

Got some AP Coilovers at a decent price. Look in really good condition to be honest, apparently only seen around 5000 miles.
Going to clean these up before fitting Friday!
Will update soon.

My rear canbus free number plate bulbs turned up :)
Coilovers are going on tonight if the weather stays nice, fingers crossed.
Fitted my LED rear number plate lights, I think they look great, kind of match the front now with the xenons.

The new LED unit wasn't fitted perfect in this photo, but you can see the immense differnce.
Adjusted it anyway and popped the other side in.

-
Nice! Almost the first thing i did to the mk5 was to fit LEDs everywhere! Also looking at APs for the moment as well, you'll have to let me know how they ride.
-
Haha had to be done, couldn't deal with xenons on the front and candles on the back
Will let you know how they ride! Went out in my mates MK5 who was running them and they were so smooth.
-
AP's seem to get very good feedback over an Audi Sport
Been considering themself as I hate the S Line suspenion but equally I want something that retains / improves ride comfort (getting old!)
-
Yeah the AP coilovers only lower to a maximum of 60mm so you still get a great ride, can't wait to put them on tonight
-
The standard suspension on the mk5 is firmer than the airlift kit I was running on the mk4, I don't want anything too firm either.
A mate is running ap's on his mk6 and the rise is great.
-
Welcome to the 3.2 V6 club
Looks really smart that.
-
Coilovers are on!
Sorry for the shocking photos and the lack of them during fitting, I lost my iPhone charger and borrowed my mates which the lens is scratched to death.

Old strut out and measuring how far to drop the front.
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/xtetx/FAC401C3-B4FE-4327-B2C5-211A2D9A41C1_zpskes4a9ol.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/xtetx/media/FAC401C3-B4FE-4327-B2C5-211A2D9A41C1_zpskes4a9ol.jpg.html)
Anyway got the coilovers on and here's how it looks, need to lower the front a bit more to be honest. Not 100% happy with it as the rear is lower than the front.
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/xtetx/194F9C3A-8179-45C4-B043-0B55740642FE_zpsb9glc2hc.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/xtetx/media/194F9C3A-8179-45C4-B043-0B55740642FE_zpsb9glc2hc.jpg.html)
Will get some better snaps once I get the car sat perfect. Drives mint to be honest just had to trim my arch liners because on the A3 they seem to be like felt and have gone a bit saggy and were hanging down and rubbing so on my list is some brand new ones.
Also activated indicators as running lights, this is at 40%.

-
Is it more comfortable than the S Line suspension? I.e less crashy??
-
It's so smooth I don't know what it is with the standard suspension but it felt like it would bottom out over grids some times. Feels so much nicer!

Journey back will be faster if you do

Cheers tricky!
Wound the coilovers right down to 2 threads on the front.
Need shortened drop links so I have had to wind it back up as it was knocking a bit.
Didn't want to risk doing any damage or causing strain on the drop link mounting brackets, so will order some asap!
Took a quick photo looked a lot better, could probably go to the bottom.

So, the rear disks were in really bad shape and needed changing asap!
Back caliper was sticking and had killed the pads.
So I've bought brand new disks, pads and a caliper. Will get the old caliper refurbed and keep this in my spares box!

Well, it's been a while.
I've tried to stay off the forums for a while due to getting sucked in to death and spending a fortune haha!
anyways, where do i start!
Had a wheel bearing fitted and brand new CV joint / oil change at Riverside Racing, Liverpool.

I changed up the wheels from the S-Line 17s to Rotiform VCE - 18 X 8.5J. Had a few scuffs but generally good condition!

Wheels needed a refurb as i had scuffed one at the airport!
Also, two tyres needed changing, so i had brand new tyres put on the front, and my back tyres were changed last month.

I need to get the tracking done as the tow on both front wheels are towing out, which means the front isn't laying frame. Also i need to get matching front tyres to the rear, as i am running very slight stretch. Will be touching the floor soon.
Chuffed with it. I just need to fully finish the boot install. Going for usable OEM+ .
Next on the list is tidy the paintwork, it's getting worse i swear! Front end is peppered!
-
S3 Front end, really i only needed the bumper but my front end is actually stone chipped to death! This is much better and i will eventually freshen it up at a later date.
S3 8P2 Front Bumper (few scratches underneath but miles better condition than mine) / Wings / Bonnet / Bi Xenon Headlights purchased and collected.
I just need an S3 Crash bar and Kufatec adapter loom to convert from single xenon to bi xenon!

So, had the car parked up in Manchester whilst i was in work. When i returned, somebody had damaged it !
It looks to me like somebody tried to park up and ended up down the side of my car. Safe to say they did not leave a note.
Needs a full side and wheel refurb!

It was safe to say i was pretty annoyed! This is the second time it has happened to me, on my MK4 i had a hit and run whilst i was in it, which i ended up paying for out of my own pocket!
Anyhow, i firstly started off with the wheel refurb as this was the easiest to do before i sent it in for paint.
Tilling Alloy Wheel Refurbishment (http://www.tillingalloywheelrefurbishment.co.uk/ (http://www.tillingalloywheelrefurbishment.co.uk/)) over in Preston do my wheels, so they sorted me out as usual!
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/xtetx/1CB0F453-3FB1-4EAA-873B-2E6A1368A7DF_zpsorvk6brf.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/xtetx/media/1CB0F453-3FB1-4EAA-873B-2E6A1368A7DF_zpsorvk6brf.jpg.html)
I then purchased a larger 5 Gallon tank which was in great condition, it was just rather Red.
Sent that up to Tilling Alloy Wheel Refurbishment for a nice powder coat of Titanium Grey (the same colour as my wheels).

Car came back from paint, pretty happy with the outcome to be honest, apart from the paint shop curbing my wheels.
Anyhow, they paid to have them refurbished.

Few updates!
Hand made carbon fiber B pillars arrived.
I have bought BLACK 3.2mm x 11mm rivets to fit the B pillars on, as the OEM rivets are silver and I want them to blend in a little more.
Will be fitting these next week.
Boot lid has got a blister, so I am now booked in to have the full boot / back bumper sprayed and I will be putting the S3 valance on.

Who did you use for those?
Wheels are perfect - no better A3 wheel :)

Who did you use for those?
Wheels are perfect - no better A3 wheel :)
They are from RS Carbon in Hungary, around about £220!

So, my boot was becoming scabby as hell. Right before fitted UK i jet washed the hatch and it blew paint off where it was just starting to blister.
I decided to have the boot / bumper and S3 valance painted.
I took it to TRAVIS AUTOS in St Helens. I will let the photos do the talking:

Super happy with the outcome. Travis is sick at what he does and I am booking back in to have the roof, back quarter (due to cloudy mess from the last person who painted it after my little car park incident.) bonnet and side skirts.

Treated myself as it's Christmas and all that! Brand new flat
Bottom steering wheel. I opted for a non multifunction as I truly could not be bothered retro fitting all controls to work! I think it looks awesome anyways!

And all fitted up!

I love watching other people's car builds, it's gives me inspiration to do mine, my mk3 cabrio build is a slow Burner, but that's what I like about it, it's never finished, there always something, be it mechanical to get it running (like the last 2yrs) or getting it looking half decent( hopefully this year, while using in the summer) to getting it show standard....(loooonnngg way off lol)
Keep it up, :-)
-
Cheers mate!!
I seem to get to a point where there just finished then i rip them to bits again haha

REST IN PIECES.
BEING BROKEN DUE TO TIMING CHAIN STRETCH.
-
Ohhh no!!!
That is a shame! Can you source another engine?
-
I was going to break it in October anyhow man! I could have had the timing chain sorted and fixed the engine but i thought whats the point since i was going to get rid of it anyway!
I knew the chain needed doing but as i wasn't going to keep, i held off! Gutted now though haha.
-
It bet!! It was a lovely car!
-
I have an engine there if you need one
