Well plans for today, inbetween taking the missus and little un shopping, is to dremel the head with a brass brush to get it all nice and clean.

I'll get some pics up of before and after.

Also with any amount of luck, the shell will land today too.  I'll also post a piccy of the donor car today too.

Picture of the donor car.

The car was in good shape prior to deciding to strip it, but the sills are a bit shot.

Oh and the interior.

I had these hand stitched (including the VW Logo, that too is hand stiched) about a couple of years ago and just placed them in the donor car to protect them.

They just need a good clean.

Nice seats...

Slightly concerned that the donor car doesn't look poorly enough to be stripped.  what's going to happen to it?

Well cannot believe how long t is since I last posted...

Don't panic I've been doing loads on the car.

After much debate I've decided to use the shell above, it was just too good to scrap.

Had new inner and outer sills wielded in.
Ground and cut out some of the engine bay.
Spent around 100 or so hours flitting the bay and plugging holes through the bulkhead.
I've had all the engine mounts blasted.

I'll try and get some pics up, as I've taken loads all the way along.

Oh and or anybody considering such a job, ensure you leave the guard on the grinder.  As I spent the best part of this weekend sat in a&e with a heavily ground index finger.  While the pain isn't too bad believe me the inconvenience of losing one hand is enough.  And no I don't have any pics just a few stitches as a reminder of my mk1 project

Well here are some pics I've been talking of, hope you enjoy:-

This is the engine bay after I'd done some work, ie cutting out the water retainer at the top of the bulkhead.

Oh and you can see I've also taken the outer wings off to see what state the inner wings were in too.

I've also pulled the wiring loom back through into the cockpit prior to painting.

Here you can see I've really taken to the flatting the bay back, going a little too far maybe
