-
I'll donate £2.50 for a set of coilies for chuff if the list of people doing the same gets long enough!
-
bargainous mate, and looks a good choice
-
Very nice 1.8T FTW
Everyone has got new cars
-
So where's your pics then slacker?
-
i stayed up with B&C for ages playing bow n arrows with B junior
then came the VERY long way home
piccies uploading as we speak from the Team Wagon mini meet
-
Right then - Collection day.
Got woken up at 4am by the neighbours having a party - not impressed.
Go downstairs to find kitchen flooded from a now defrosted fridge freezer
Not a good omen for car collecting. what is the third going to be
I soon find out, our lasses car has a MASSIVE vibration on it at crusing speeds  thankfully she doesnt go that fast
So to Lutterworth we go, arriving at the place to a VERY pleasant surprise. The piccies DIDNT do the old girl justice at all,
yes the whole car needs Mr Tona to come and sort it properly - but overall its immaculate for it mileage.
The bonnet is stonechip central but thats understandable.
One small dent in the NSR arch ( same arch as the b3  )
big scuff on the NSF bumper but its been touched in and a few small scratches
Thats it.
Alloys are mint for their age - all 5 of them  shod in michelin energy saver tyres :afro:
Interior is rip FREE, with VERY minimal wear on the bolsters. :smug:
The drive is sweet as, no vibration, smooth pick up, and a lot quicker than the B3s
With no fuel on board i limped to the nearest fuel station, watching our lass dissappeaer onto the M69 going in the wrong direction
Then off to Bens I went to deliver some goodies and so Toph could see if any codes had appeared and turn some stuff on, others off :undecided:

......................
-
it then got discretely stickered :lipsrsealed:
Next up was a Team Wagon photo shoot

So after saying thanks again to chris and ben for taking time out from Tuneside to go do the initial viewing / roadtest I headed for home the long way .
A mixture of A roads, dual carriageways and a blast down the M1 saw me return 35.9 mpg overall including some Autobahn Driving :lipsrsealed:
Not bad i thought for a big old girl
So whats next, a visit from Mr Tona - and THATS IT, maybe some not so discrete stickerage

Looks really nice mate. I'd be tempted by one of these in derv form but they hold their value well.
nick
-
Another top find :afro:
-
Agreed, looks great Chuff. I was also looking at them in TDI form, but as Nick said, holding their value surprisingly well!
-
and before i get grassed up  :lipsrsealed:
I didnt do ANY checks on this car beofre buying - even my own recommended online ones :lipsrsealed: I know
However it would seem i was lucky .
Mots are all good, one fail for a brake line and thats it.
Mileage is correct, being an ex avis fleet car it comes with a FULL print out of its service history .
and it seems to have had 3 easy years since it was sold off by avis
-
Looks a cracking buy :afro:
-
Love it bud :afro:
-
I blame the meet in Bristol for this......
It's been a long old road to get to it, mind.....

Chuff I like it! Very nice for what you wanted (apart from the diesel bit). Lovin the colour. Now, as you suggested last year I should slam the Bora and I haven't, could it be you've seen the light and are following my lead in fashion??

-
So was the Tuneside sticker put on before or after the remap :lipsrsealed:
Car looks very clean
-
Great wagon for under a grand!.... I keep trying to convince my missus that something like this should be her next car but she likes her fords and loves her escort estate! somehow she ignores all the rust i keep chasing! When it dies and we have to buy her a new car i might just plonk one on the drive anyway!.. be interesting to see what kind of MPG you get with lame driving. (she drives slow).
-
Well she is booked in at my local garage for a pre-mot inspection ( of sorts ) and Oil n filter change on Wednesday
just make sure all is good with the old girl :afro: hopefully he will find the lickle rattle thats a tad annoying too. . . . . . . .

-
All sounds good.... I think you shold style this with the same theme as the blue one!... low(ish) and colour coded wheels...
-

Nick

I likey those wheels, considered them for mine
-

Nick
golf 4 5x100
golf 5-> 5x112 or so his ad says
b5 &.5 5x112
-
PCD is fine. 5x112. Check offset tho Chuff. As IIRC a B5 is ET35 or thereabouts and The Mk5 Platform is more like ET44 or thereabouts.
You might want to consider spacers, especially for flushness. See my B5 Readers Rides.
-
they say that 35 - 43 is ok on a B5 - i await a reply to my offest Q and if they are still for sale.

You haven't...

MMMmmm Pothole friendly !
Try German ebay Chuff, lots of 5x112 choice.
-
i have a self imposed BLOCK on ebay.de from my b3 ownership days
-
Plenty of Merc BBS rims are 5x112.
Imagine a 15" set of them on it, with it dropped on it's bottom.
I LIKE!
-
you have to fook about with bolts for certain merc rims slick,
and it wont be on its bottom, :lipsrsealed:
but today is wheel search day,
-
But imagine how cool you'd look.
Doesn't joe still have his LM reps for sale?
-
dunno, but i doubt they are in my price range
-
get some bentley rims chuff
-
But must resist - this WILL be staying standard height and rims . IT WILL IT WILL IT WILL
So what happened to that plan then

read the thread wayne - going down to just one car , practical modified daily :smug:

read the thread wayne - going down to just one car , practical modified daily :smug:
I know but lowered cars tend not to be practical.
-
depends on how low u go though,
i shall return
-
Mine is lowered and perfectly practical :)
-
sensible - used daily to do BIG miles
(http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab312/kungfuracer/My%20Old%20Passat%20Estate/P3290033.jpg)
a tad lower, still used daily including parts hauling
(http://i657.photobucket.com/albums/uu293/vdub_rsr/my%20shiiiite/01032010239.jpg)
not so practical
(http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv313/hanpug25/IMG_0568.jpg)
-
Dark blue one looks all wrong being that low, red one looks spot on.
-
I do big miles and hate it  Only because it costs so much though  Don't really care about the ride, I get no scrapeing other than on seriously bumpy country roads where the engine undertray hits the floor.
-
Dark blue one looks all wrong being that low, red one looks spot on.
yep, but pre drop the red one looked
and when you think the OE suspension is now on 174k, to miss a set of coilies, 2 months old, fitted for £130 was a bargain, even if i run at full height

Fair point, standard susp. will be tired now anyway.
Were all those Passats yours.
-
That second blue one looks nice....... just get really really hard springs on the rear and then you'll have no problems putting loads in the back!
-
no mate, none are mine - all taken from elsewhere
-
no mate, none are mine - all taken from elsewhere
so height wise i'm guessing you'd like something like the light blue one then?
-
yep, thats the stance i want, ricky runs 18s or 19s without issue so all is good
heres the car they are coming off
(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y117/jonbmx900/003-1.jpg)
so the rear might come up a touch
-
and how could I forget, our own dwarf of the north , aka tuneside ben has one too, and its all his fault anyway

Saw that before in one of your threads.... Now that is nice!!!

Yep the fat fives look better.

They would work but the S-line/S6 wheels would look better  The b5/5.5 can pull off a lot of wheels. Mate of mine is running 18" Merc monoblocks on his and it looks sweet.
-
The newstyle Audi s-line splits are very nice, but usually £££

So many wheels would look sweet on this! Whats your budget Chuff? Fat Fives would be so sweet but they don't seem to pop up cheap that often

Glad to hear the belts all sorted.... My tensioner siezed on the mk1 after a few weeks of ownership, belt slipped a few teeth. For a while I didn't clock the problem so thought the engine was fooked!
Whats all this about a Caravan!?
-

Ha ha.. I kinda like that!... not your typical looking caravan, would like it more if it was a motorhome though! When have you got to be out of your house by?

Just checked that one out, he sold it once before, got negative
Looking at twin axle vans -we could end up in a 2 bed with nowhere for lad when he comes back from uni hence stripped out van
so whats the towing weight on the Wagon

Thats a bit pants... Hope you find somewhere half decent at least mate.
Towing weight is about 650-700 kg unbraked for a motor like yours isn't it?... should say in you handbook if you've got one.

They off a 5.5? I've always liked them. Looks like a possible Horney Wagon upgrade later in the year and musing between a high spec 5.5 'sat wagon or a B6 A4 TDI Quattro Avant.
-
Correctamundo Mr H - 5.5 Sport
Start looking now, there a LOT of dawgs out there, me n slick know this already, TJG and Boney B are now finding out :lipsrsealed:
-
Gotta wait until I nail that promotion first. It might come with a company car though so I might not have any hassle. Just got to keep beavering away and see what happens.

Does the caddy need van rated tyres? It's not exactly a full on van like a transit is it?

Yes it will, due to the load etc plus insurance would take a dim view of tyres fitted that with not suitable for a commercial vehicle.
-
Be interesting to llok up the max laden weight of the caddy vs the passat estate etc. If it has pukka van rated tyre son it now though it would suggest it need them.

As long as you declared the mods the insurance wouldn't give a stuff. I ran my old T3 on merc rims with car tyres and this had to be declared when I insured it and they were fine. The tyres were not commercial tyres but they were the right load rating. There are plenty of road cars out there that will have the same max laden weight as the caddy, it's just if they run 15's or not as to whether tyres are easily available.

As for my old rims, they are NOT a Extra load rating tyre so were pushing the weight limit of my wagon as it was .
The boots on the new rims have EXTRA load tyres so would be ok for ya van though guy

well after a hard 2 months of many trips to yorkshire, moving house, other random trips around the country including an off roaders event on the IOW the old girl is about to click thru 180k
So it was MOT time and she sailed thru with only a couple of advisories, a new bulb required as the indicator is flashing whiteish, and a new ball joint at some point.
So the plate transfer is now in progress, and the old girl will be returned to standard and either part ex'd or sold.
SO if you want a cheap, fast, reliable wagon, then cross my hand with £850 and you got a deal
-
