What do i need to keep , immobiliser ?
« on: 09 August 2019, 19:59 »
Hi all.I'm currently thinking about all the things i need to do when i break my 02 plate mk4 V5 .

I know mk3's inside out but i'm not quite sure what to do with the MK4 stuff.

I want to try and sell all the parts together that make up the immobiliser system. On a MK3 i would have kept the chips from the keys, the reader around the ignition, the ecu and the little green box behind the clocks that the key reader connects to and then it connects to the ecu in some way.

Can anyone tell me what i need to keep together on a mk4 so i can sell it on as a complete lot.

Thanks.

ECU, clocks and transponders.
The coil around the ignition is not coded, it's a dumb part, hence it doesn't require swapping over if someone wants to fit only the ECU and clocks. The only reason to include it as well is if you want to sell the keys and locks in the package as well.

However.... the immo system on the mk4 is straightforward. You can easily read PIN via OBD and code used parts in individually.
How much would you take for the clocks?
