Very nice car Snoopy.Regards the sump plug, the new one you have there is the correct one.
The early mk6 was fitted with the old type and was found to cause leeks on some cars,so was
Changed to the smaller one with the copper washer, the washer on the other one was not soft enough.

My wife has a mk6 1.4tsi and it has the older type, because the sump is made of a different mix of alloy.
That's the info supplied from my dealer parts department anyway.
thanks

thanks everyone for the coments. The blue is a pain to photograph

Thanks, yes that was me. You turned up in your red GTI? Only recall seeing one but with non LED rear lights, I thought LED rears came as standard from 2011 onwards?

There was also a lovely red mk2 there.

Yeah I was in my red car, although it was filthy so more brown than red! Don't remember seeing another red Mk6 but mine definitely has LED rears. Only pic of mine from the event:

I left about 11 so early but don't remember seeing that red Mk2. From memory there was your black Mk6, a black Mk5 on air, a supercharged Mk5 R32 and a blue Mk2 on the grass at the back.

Took all the wheels off and sealed them with Gtechniq C5 .

Uncovered some oil leaks while giving the car a check over though

Gearbox to engine seal

Around the sump and lower timing case cover

Also lots of oil around the diverter valve, need to do the pcv dipstick test to find out if it's pcv or diverter and will change that at some point this week when I have my hands on a new one. Hoping I can run with the other leaks until I'm getting the timing chains and tensioners done in around 3500 miles. None of them are dripping yet, just seeps so far.
