Title: 16 revs dropping
Post by: jpcutler85 on 25 July 2011, 20:09
I have read a lot about 8v gti's dropping revs whilst idle as well as cutting out whilst moving. But mine is a 16v and wondered if it might be a different issue? when idle the revs go up and down, and when driving along the car tries to stall as I take my foot off the accelerator and some times when I have my foot down.

It has cut out a few times too whilst pulling up to junction. I feel a huge loss in power also, doesn't seem as responsive when its really playing up.

Possible air leak, check all vacuum hoses, ecu pipe etc and pipe to the servo look for damaged or perished pipes.

Thanks I will take a look. I also read it could be the throttle body? It may need a clean.
