As said 99% of car makers are building to meet EU legislations on emission rules. You build to the rules to win. Every competitor kmows this.
The way I look at it is technology's haven't changed that much in the last few years. You cannot get something for nothing. If you want more powerful engines yours going to use more fuel.
Weights another of the fudged figures.

That's what the MFD is showing with around 70 miles left on the range i.e. when the light comes on.  Don't really take it any lower

The MFD reading is only a guestimate the only true fuel con is fill the tank, use the tank and fill it again. My memory 2 will show 48 mpg most of the time but the true mpg is only 43.

The low fuel warning will come on at around 50 miles left they will still run when it shows 0 miles again the tank sender unit its accurate either. When its on 0 you get only get 54 litres in a 55 litre tank to fill it up to the neck.

Typically get 47 per tank as calculated by fully. Only had it for about 3 tanks worth, and not doing tons of motorway miles recently. Have to admit I thought I'd get 50 easy but it's not too bad. Recently had a DSG service and it's dropped through the floor :( hoping that it adaptations just need time to get used to my driving style again.

Get all four wheels aligned, pay the money. I think you get it back on mpg overall.

I might try the wheel alignment too, and a DSG reset maybe, cause the 38 average is petrol mpg

Just wondering how accurate people find the on-board fuel consumption figure for MPG?  I have been finding on my first three fill ups that it is at least 5MPG off (MFD reporting 55MPG on last fill up - calculated MPG = 50).

Is this normal for this car?  :undecided:

I know there has not been a recent addition to this thread, however my 2011 Golf GTD (92,000 miles) is recently new to me.

I enjoy trying a spot of Hypermiling. (Last car Skoda citigo 1.0l achieved a best figure of 87.64 mpg calculated over a distance of 748 miles full-empty using 38.80L)

I note the trip computer over reads by at least 15%.

Best figure so far was last week over 357 miles Alnwick to Crawley trip computer 83.0, calculated full-full 71.34 mpg.

Best predicted tank range seen 353 driven miles, 700 range remaining giving 1053 miles ! This is a dsg.
