Car Details:

1991 VW Golf Ryder 1300, 4 Speed, MK2

3 Door, Dark Blue.

Bought it some time in 2005 and it looked like this.....

It had suspected head gasket failure, so my Dad set about removing the head, got the head off, then it got forgotten about for months and months, until I moved it to my house. Decided I wanted to do it myself and use the car to learn on.

Started to do some work myself, starts getting dark, so I call it a day.....

Come back the next morning, the car has gone!? Turns out some pathetic excuse for a human tried to steal it, obviously with lack of cylinder head, didn't get far, dumped it and the Police had it recovered to a compound!!

10 Months and £105 later, I was greeted by this......

Started work again......

Skimmed Head

Head on

Few struggles here and there, the odd sheared bolt etc...

Got the engine back together tonight, after I found that bloody fuel pump plunger!

Hotwired it, because the thieves ripped the wires out of the ignition barrel!

Not starting:(

Fueling problem, called it a day because it was getting dark, shall investigate more tommorow:)

Its running, not very well. Keeps cutting out, but had it idling for about 15 seconds, but had to switch it off because the exhaust isn't connected and its way too loud!

Doing my head in now! Can't get it to run right, sometimes its being starved of fuel and cuts out with any sort of throttle input and other times it will respond!

Took the carb off and stripped it to try and fix the autochoke, but the arm that goes to the choke flap looks as if theres something missing! So thats buggered too.

Going to save some pennies and buy an 8v GTI lump I think, Quite fancy a track car now!
