Title: Mk3 8v engine work, struggling to find mechanic and need aftermarket ecu advice
Post by: D.O.A on 16 September 2019, 07:18
I have purchased a refurbed polished and ported head with Newman cam ported inlet manifold, 4-1 exhaust manifold to fit on to existing cat back exhaust with sports cat. I am struggling to find someone to do the engine work, I don’t have the time or confidence myself, I am based in the midlands. Any ideas? Also looking for guidance on ecu so can get it custom mapped, I gather the standard ecu needs changing for an aftermarket. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions... apart from get a 16v or vr6...  I love my 8v and won’t be parting with it...   Thanks in advance

I certainly would'nt spend any money on a standard 8v gti engine nor the 1.8.

Because of the type of engine they are they have limited tuning potential.

To modify an 8v get a head off the 3.5 cabby/mk 4 golf 2.0 coz it's a crossflow and has huge tuning potential, there are loads of upgrades in US available for this engine,i think engine code is ABA ?.
