track day helmet requirements
« on: 30 October 2013, 07:36 »
Just got a new helmet for karting. My old one was a snell sa2000 that runs out next season.  So ive just got a arai sk6 and that is a snell K2010.
Is that ok for a track day or do I need a SA rating?
Looking to do couple track days next year in the m3

In my experience track day organisers don't really give a hoot about what lid you are wearing.  It's only in motorsport where your car and kit actually gets scrutineered that anyone checks for the right stickers and dates etc.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

You would think with a bunch of amateur drivers on track safety would be paramount.

Thanks, I should be fine.

The sk is not fire retardant and I thought that would be important.

Go to one of the Castle Combe Action Days to see just how 'paramount' safety can be.
